Irvine B. Hill
Irvine Byrd "Irv" Hill was a Virginia politician and broadcasting executive who served as the Mayor of the city of Norfolk from 1974 to 1976. Early life Hill was born in Norfolk to Madeline C. Hill and Herman R. Hill. He attended Maury High School, graduating from there in 1945. He then went on to attend the College of William and Mary. He later studied management at Harvard University's School of Business. Military career He served in the Virginia National Guard from 1958-1962 and in the United States Navy Reserve. Political career He served as a member of the City Council (Sept. 1, 1972 until August 30, 1976) and then as Mayor in the City of Norfolk, Virginia from 1974-1976 where was nicknamed "The People's Mayor". Paul Fraim
Paul David Fraim (born October 26, 1949) is an American politician and lawyer. A Democratic Party (United States), Democrat, he was elected to the City Council of Norfolk, Virginia in 1986, was appointed mayor of Norfolk July 1, 1994 and re-appointed every two years until 2006 Norfolk mayoral election, May 2006 when he became the first popularly elected mayor since 1916. He was twice re-elected mayor and did not seek re-election in 2016. He is the longest serving mayor in the history of Norfolk. Early life Fraim was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School. He then went on to the Virginia Military Institute, where he was co-captain of the VMI Keydets football team. He received a Bachelor of Arts, B.A. degree there, followed by a Master of Education, M.Ed. from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor, J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law. WTAR (850 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Norfolk, Virginia, and serving the Hampton Roads (Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News) radio market. WTAR is owned and operated by Sinclair Telecable, Inc. It broadcasts a hot adult contemporary format as "96.5 Lucy FM". Until September 1, 2022, the station aired a sports radio format, carrying the Fox Sports Radio Network most of the day, with a local afternoon drive time show. The syndicated Dan Patrick Show was heard in late mornings. WTAR was part of the Washington Commanders Radio Network. WTAR's studios and offices are on Waterside Drive in Norfolk.
