Iroquois Lacrosse Association
First Nations Lacrosse Association (formerly Iroquois Lacrosse Association) is the governing body of lacrosse for First Nations within Canada and Native American tribes within the United States. The First Nations Lacrosse Association (FNLA) oversees five national teams, the Iroquois men's national lacrosse team, the Iroquois men's national under-19 lacrosse team, the Haudenosaunee women's national lacrosse team, the Haudenosaunee women's national under-19 lacrosse team, and the Iroquois national indoor lacrosse team. These teams are recognized by World Lacrosse for international competition, making them the only indigenous peoples' national teams sanctioned in any sport. First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League
The First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League (formerly Iroquois Nations Junior B Lacrosse League) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the First Nations Lacrosse Association. The league was formed in 2014 with the restructuring of the Canadian Lacrosse Association. Four teams competed in the inaugural season. The league winner earns a spot in the Founders' Cup, the national championship of Junior B lacrosse in North America. History The first game in INJBLL history was contested between Tonawanda and Seneca on May 24, 2014 at Cattaraugus Community Center. Seneca won the game 27-4. 2002 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2002 World Lacrosse Championship were held between 7–15 July 2002. The event was the ninth international men's lacrosse championship, and took place in Perth, Western Australia under the auspices of the International Lacrosse Federation. This was the second time that the tournament was held in Perth, following the 1990 tournament. Fifteen teams competed in the event in three divisions. The United States successfully defended their title for the sixth consecutive time, defeating Canada 18–15 in the final. Australia beat the Iroquois team 12–11 for third place. The 1990 World Lacrosse Championship was the sixth World Lacrosse Championship and was played at the WACA Ground in Perth, Western Australia from July 7-15, 1990. The Iroquois or Haudenosaunee passport is a form of identification and an " expression of sovereignty" used by the nationals of the Six Nations (Iroquois: ''Haudenosaunee''). History The Haudenosaunee government has issued passports since at least 1923, when Haudenosaunee authorities issued a passport to Cayuga statesman Deskaheh to travel to the League of Nations headquarters in Geneva. The Iroquois passport evolved from negotiations with the US State Department, Canada, Britain and other countries and has been used since 1977. In 2005 Japan allowed a delegation travelling on the Iroquois passport to visit that country for the World Congress of the International Association for the History of Religions. 2010 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2010 World Lacrosse Championship was held between 15–24 July. This international men's field lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse took place in Manchester, United Kingdom. This was the third time that the tournament was played in Greater Manchester, after the 1978 and 1994 championships. The United States captured their ninth gold medal, defeating Canada 12–10 in the championship game. Paul Rabil of Team USA was named tournament MVP. Australia earned its fourth-straight bronze medal by defeating Japan 16 –9. A record 29 nations competed at the event, eight more than the 2006 WLC in London, Ontario.
