Irine Kharisma Sukandar
Irene Kharisma Sukandar (born 7 April 1992) is an Indonesian chess player and a two-time Asian women's champion. She is the first female player from Indonesia to achieve both the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and International Master (IM) titles. She graduated from Gunadarma University. She won two gold medals at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games. Career Sukandar won the Indonesian Women's Chess Championship four times in a row from 2006 to 2010. She has represented Indonesia in five Women's Chess Olympiads from 2004 to 2014, the Women's Asian Team Chess Championship in 2009, the World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad in 2007, the 2006 Asian Games, the 2009 Asian Indoor Games, and the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. She won the individual silver medal on board 3 in the 36th Chess Olympiad in 2004 and bronze in the team blitz chess event at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Fast chess, also known as Speed chess, is a type of chess in which each player is given less time to consider their moves than normal tournament time controls allow. Fast chess is subdivided, by decreasing time controls, into rapid chess, blitz chess, and bullet chess. Armageddon chess is a particular variation of fast chess in which different rules apply for each of the two players. The Asian Team Chess Championship (recently also called the Asian Nations Chess Cup) is an international team chess tournament open to national federations affiliated to FIDE in Asia and Oceania. It is organized by the Asian Chess Federation, and the winner qualifies to participate at the next World Team Chess Championship. The open championship has been held at intervals of anywhere from one to four years since 1974. The Women's Chess Olympiad is an event held by FIDE (the International Chess Federation) since 1957 (every two years since 1972), where national women's teams compete at chess for gold, silver and bronze medals. Since 1976 the Women's Chess Olympiad has been incorporated within Chess Olympiad events, with simultaneous women's and open tournaments. The Soviet Union has won it the most often: 11 times. Since the break-up of the Soviet Union, China have won the event six times, Georgia – four times, Russia – three times and Ukraine – two times. Indonesian Chess Championship
The Indonesian Chess Championship is organized by PERCASI ( id, Persatuan Catur Seluruh Indonesia), the Indonesian Chess Federation. PERCASI was established in 1948 in Yogyakarta, although its official founding date is August 17, 1950, when its statutes and bylaws were enacted. Its offices were moved to Jakarta in 1955. The first Indonesian championship recognized by PERCASI was held in Solo in 1953, although there are claims of a national championship having taken place in Semarang in 1952.
