Irina Timofeyeva
Irina Nikolayevna Timofeyeva (russian: Ирина Николаевна Тимофеева; born 5 April 1970) is a Russian long-distance runner who specializes in running the marathon. She won the Singapore Marathon in 2005 and the Paris Marathon in 2006. She ran for Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics, placing seventh in the marathon race. She won the Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon in 2009. She was banned from the sport for two years, starting 6 September 2016, due to abnormalities in her biological passport. IAAF. Irina (Cyrillic: Ирина) is a feminine given name of Ancient Greek origin, commonly borne by followers of the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is derived from Eirene (goddess), Eirene (Ancient Greek: Εἰρήνη), an ancient Greek goddess, personification of peace. The Chicago Marathon is a marathon (long-distance foot race) held every October in Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the six World Marathon Majors. Thus, it is also a World Athletics Label Road Race. The Chicago Marathon is the fourth-largest race by number of finishers worldwide. Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the games, from August 15 to August 24, 2008, at the Beijing National Stadium. The Olympic sport of athletics is split into four distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Both men and women had very similar schedules of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, as their schedule lacked the 50 km race walk. In addition, both the men's 110 m hurdles and decathlon are reflected in the women's schedule by the 100 m hurdles and heptathlon, respectively. The Olympic record was broken in 17 returning events. In five events, including the inaugural women's 3000 m steeplechase, the world record was broken.
