Iration is a reggae/ pop group from Santa Barbara, California. All members originally hail from Hawaii. They play a mix of reggae, dub, pop, and rock. The group is one of the leading bands in the genre of sunshine reggae. History Formation and ''New Roots EP'' (2006) Iration began in Isla Vista, an unincorporated community connected to UC Santa Barbara, playing reggae covers in college towns such as Cal Poly SLO, Chico State, and UC Davis. Rebelution is a reggae rock music band formed in Isla Vista, California. The current members of Rebelution are Eric Rachmany, Rory Carey, Marley D. Williams, and Wesley Finley. Each member attended and completed school at the University of California, Santa Barbara. History Formation and ''Courage to Grow'' (2004–2007) Rebelution was formed in the college town of Isla Vista, California, in 2004. The five original band members were Eric Rachmany, Matt Velasquez, Rory Carey, Marley D. Williams, and Wesley Finley, who were all University of California, Santa Barbara students. Throughout 2004–2005, Rebelution began to build momentum through consistently playing local shows and by independently releasing an EP. Iya Terra are an American roots reggae and dub band based out of Los Angeles, California. History Formation and Self-titled EP (2013–2014) Iya Terra first formed in 2012 when vocalist and lead guitarist Nathan Feinstein & bassist Nick Loporchio Met in the winter of 2013, Feinstein had moved to Las Vegas that year, and met Loporchio who was then attending UCLA, where he graduated with a degree in Molecular Biology The duo added more members to their band including Luis Tovar on keyboard and Danny Monar on percussion in the spring of 2014. Pepper (band)
Pepper is a three-piece reggae rock band originally from Hawaii, now based in San Diego. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Kaleo Wassman, vocalist/bassist Bret Bollinger, and drummer Yesod Williams. Since the band's formation they have released eight studio albums, as well as two live albums. Band history 1996–2001: Formation Pepper formed in 1996 with singer/guitarist Kaleo Wassman and bassist/singer Bret Bollinger, who had been friends since middle school. The duo was influenced by the Hawaiian artist Three Plus and popular mainland groups like Sublime. The group struggled to find a drummer to be in the band, with Wassman stating, "We were going through drummers like a bottomless pit." Reggae rock is a subgenre of reggae fusion and rock music that primarily uses the genres reggae, rock, and ska. Typical lyrics of reggae rock songs incorporate love, personal awareness, and life challenges while incorporating music and beat elements of rock, punk, and hip-hop. Isla Vista is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Barbara County, California in the United States. As of 2020 census, the community had a population of 15,500. The majority of residents are college students at the University of California, Santa Barbara or at Santa Barbara City College.
