Gazipur-3 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) of Bangladesh since 2024 by Rumana Ali of the Awami League. Boundaries The constituency encompasses Sreepur Upazila and two union parishads of Gazipur Sadar Upazila: Bhawal Gor and Pirujali. History The constituency was created in 1984 from the Dhaka-23 constituency when the former Dhaka District was split into six districts: Manikganj, Munshiganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Narsingdi, and Narayanganj. Sreepur ( bn, শ্রীপুর) is an upazila (sub-district) of Gazipur District in central Bangladesh, part of the Dhaka Division. Geography Sreepur is located at . It has 65435 households and total area 465.24 km2. Demographics At the 1991 census Bangladesh census, Sreepur had a population of 320,530, of which 166,988 were aged 18 or older. Rumana Ali Tusi is a Bangladeshi academic, writer and politician from Gazipur belonging to Bangladesh Awami League. She is the incumbent state minister for Primary and Mass Education and Member of Parliament from Gazipur- 3 and state minister of the 12th Parliament. Earlier, she was Jatiya Sangsad member for Reserved Women's Seat-14. She is ex-state minister Md. Rahmat Ali's daughter. Her eldest brother M. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh.
