The 27th District of the Iowa Senate is located in central east Iowa, and is currently composed of Hardin, Grundy, and Poweshiek Counties, as well as part of Tama and Black Hawk Counties. Ron Wieck
Ron Wieck (born August 13, 1944) is a former Iowa state senator from the 27th District. A Republican Party of Iowa, Republican, he served as Senate minority leader, assuming the post following former minority leader Mary Lundby's announcement of plans to retire from the Senate in 2008. He served in the Iowa Senate from 2003 to 2010. Wally Horn
Wally E. Horn (born November 28, 1933) is a former Iowa State Senator who served the 27th, 25, and 17th Districts. Horn served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Judiciary committee; the Labor and Business Relations committee; the Rebuild Iowa committee; and the State Government committee. He also serves on the Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Early life and education Horn was raised in Bloomfield, Iowa and graduated from Bloomfield High School. Richard Varn
Richard J. Varn (born 31 May 1958) is an American former politician. Richard Varn was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to parents Leonard and Carolyn on 31 May 1958. After graduating from Solon High School in 1976, Varn found work with Colonial Bakery in Cedar Rapids. While employed at the bakery, he enrolled at the University of Iowa, where he completed his undergraduate degree in 1981. He then attended the UI College of Law for two years, which overlapped with the start of his first term in the Iowa House of Representatives. Varn left the bakery in 1985 and started working in construction. In 1988, he began serving as director of the Eastern Iowa Construction Alliance, and was also admitted to the Iowa bar. Randy Feenstra
Randall Lee Feenstra (born January 14, 1969) is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 4th congressional district. The district covers much of the northwestern quadrant of the state, including Sioux City, but stretches as far east as Ames and Mason City. A member of the Republican Party, Feenstra served as an Iowa state senator for the 2nd district from 2009 to 2021. He was the Sioux County treasurer from 2006 to 2008. Iowa's 4th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Iowa that covers its northwestern part, bordering the states of Minnesota, South Dakota, and Nebraska, and the Missouri River. The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half.
