Hillcrest Academy (formerly Iowa Mennonite School) is an independent, Christian school near Iowa City, Iowa in Kalona, Iowa, established in 1945. Theology At Hillcrest Academy, Jesus is the center of their faith. Community is the center of their lives, and reconciliation is the center of their work. The values of understanding God’s unconditional love, respect for others, and a humble attitude of service are an integral part of the Hillcrest Academy educational experience. Partnering with families and the church to educate students with a Biblical worldview is central to what the school is. Athletics Hillcrest Academy's mascot is the Ravens. Iowa City, offically the City of Iowa City is a city in Johnson County, Iowa, United States. It is the home of the University of Iowa and county seat of Johnson County, at the center of the Iowa City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kalona, Iowa
Kalona is a city in Washington County, Iowa. It is part of the Iowa City metropolitan area. The population was 2,630 at the time of the 2020 census. Kalona is the second-largest city in Washington County. History Amish settlement in what is now the Kalona area began in the 1840s, placing the Amish among the first European settlers in the area. The split between Old Order Amish and Amish Mennonites occurred in the 1860s in most places, but it was not until the 1880s that the formal split occurred in Iowa, even though a process of sorting out between conservatives and change-minded Amish had begun a decade earlier or so in Iowa. Most Amish Mennonites later assimilated and lost their Amish identity. The Beachy Amish broke away from the Old Orders in the 1920s. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its female counterpart, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, (IGHSAU) is an associate member. Iowa is the only state that maintains separate governing bodies for boys' and girls' athletics. Sports overseen by the IHSAA are baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and wrestling. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) is the governing body for girls' junior and senior high school sports in the U.S. state of Iowa. The association promotes and regulates interscholastic sports among its member schools. Though its counterpart for boys sports in Iowa, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, is a full-time member of the National Federation of State High School Associations, the IGHSAU is only an affiliate member. Southeast Iowa Superconference
The Southeast Iowa Superconference, also known as the SEISC, is a 18-team athletics and activities conference based in southeastern Iowa. The conference was created in 1991 from the merger of the Deerwood Conference and the Southeast Iowa Conference. It is made up of 1A, 2A and 3A high schools. History The conference formed from the 20 schools in the Deerwood Conference (Danville, Harmony, New London, Notre Dame, Burlington, Van Buren, WACO, West Burlington, and Winfield-Mt. Mennonites are groups of Anabaptist Christian church communities of denominations. The name is derived from the founder of the movement, Menno Simons (1496–1561) of Friesland.
