Intu Derby
Derbion (formerly Intu Derby, Westfield Derby and the Eagle Centre) is a large indoor shopping centre in Derby, England. It is the largest shopping centre in the East Midlands and the 15th largest in the United Kingdom. Overview Derbion may contain up to 200 shops, a supermarket, a cinema and many eateries. Anchor tenants include Next, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's. There is also a cinema, named the Showcase Cinema de Lux, in the centre as well as a bowling arcade named Hollywood Bowl Group and an adventure golf site named ‘Paradise Island’. It has three car parks and is a few minutes walk away from both Derby's bus and railway stations. The UK's largest, but mainly unoccupied, indoor market, the Eagle Market, adjoins the centre. Derby ( ) is a city and unitary authority area in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire, which is in the East Midlands Region. It was traditionally the county town of Derbyshire. Derby gained city status in 1977, the population size has increased by 5.1%, from around 248,800 in 2011 to 261,400 in 2021. The ''Derby Telegraph'', formerly the ''Derby Evening Telegraph'', is a daily tabloid newspaper distributed in the Derby area of England. Stories produced by the Derby Telegraph team are published online under the Derbyshire Live brand. History In 1857, Richard Keene was publishing the ''Derby Telegraph'' every Saturday. His business was in the Irongate district of Derby. His family was to include Alfred John Keene who was a local painter whose work is displayed in the Derby Art Gallery. Republic was a clothing retailer with 121 stores in the United Kingdom. In February 2013, it entered administration, and was purchased by Sports Direct. Republic was merged into Sports Direct's USC brand. History Founded in 1985, as Just Jeans, after 1990, the name changed to Best Jeanswear; Republic was launched in 1998. It was a private limited company (Republic (Retail) Ltd.) and, in 2005, Change Capital invested in the company to finance expansion plans.
