Anita Blanch
Anita Blanch (July 26, 1910 – April 23, 1983) was a Spanish-born, Mexican actress, who worked in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. She was nominated for an Ariel Award from the Mexican Academy of Film three times and won the Best Supporting Actress Award from Diosa de Plata (Silver Goddess Award) in 1963. Biography Ana María Blanch Ruiz was born on 26 July 1910 in Sagunto, Valencia. Ana, who went by the name of "Anita" and her sister, actress Isabelita Blanch, who both had interest in the theater, arrived in Mexico in the 1920s. Blanch specialized in comedic plays and her theatrical debut was in a performance of “La cabalgata de los reyes”. Blanch was the first star of the prestigious "Ideal Theater" in Mexico City. Suzanne Ellen Rose Alexander-Katz Kauffmann (born 3 July 1943), commonly known as Susana Alexander, is a Mexican actress, hostess, director, producer, translator, teacher and dancer. Early life Alexander was born in Mexico City, the daughter of Alfredo Alexander-Katz and Brígida Kauffmann Rosenstein, German Jewish immigrants who left Europe during World War II. Her mother, commonly known as Brígida Alexander, was a pioneer of Mexican television who wrote and produced the first Mexican telenovela, ''Los ángeles de la calle'' (1952). Career In 1950, she made her professional debut as a television hostess. She made her film debut in ''Yo, el mujeriego'' (1963), starring Antonio Aguilar. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. Telesistema Mexicano was the predecessor of Televisa. Telesistema Mexicano was a television alliance made up of the independently owned television flagship stations XEW Canal 2, XHTV Canal 4, and XHGC Canal 5 in Mexico, Distrito Federal.
