International Trumpet Guild
The International Trumpet Guild (ITG) is an international organization of trumpet players. Members include professional and amateur performers, teachers, students, manufacturers, publishers, and others interested in the trumpet. ITG is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization supported by the dues of individual members. Formation ITG was established in 1975. In 1975, the first ITG Conference was held in Bloomington, Indiana; the following year the Guild met as part of the First International Brass Congress in Montreux, Switzerland. ITG Conferences have been held every year since then, with the Second International Brass Congress being held in 1984 at Indiana University.D.K. Roger Delmotte
Roger Delmotte (born 20 September 1925) is a French classical trumpeter. Life Born in Roubaix, Delmotte first played the flugelhorn, a wind instrument, in a French wind musical ensemble. After his first studies with Maurice Leclercq at the Roubaix Conservatory, he was awarded the Prix d'honneur in 1944. He continued his studies in 1944 at the Conservatoire de Paris with Eugène Foveau. He won the First Prize for trumpet in 1946 and was the first trumpeter to win the First Prize at the Geneva International Music Competition in 1950. He held the principal trumpet console of the Paris Opera from 1950 to 1985. International Nongovernmental Organization
An international non-governmental organization (INGO) is an organization which is independent of government involvement and extends the concept of a non-governmental organization (NGO) to an international scope. NGOs are independent of governments and can be seen as two types: ''advocacy NGOs'', which aim to influence governments with a specific goal, and ''operational NGOs'', which provide services. Examples of NGO mandates are environmental preservation, human rights promotions or the advancement of women. NGOs are typically not-for-profit, but receive funding from companies or membership fees. Charles Schlueter
Charles Schlueter, born in Du Quoin, Illinois, is the retired principal trumpeter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Schlueter studied with William Vacchiano at the Juilliard School. Prior to his 25 years as principal of the BSO, he also held positions with the Kansas City Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra. Timofei Dokschitzer
Timofei Aleksandrovich Dokschitzer (russian: Тимофей Александрович Докшицер, 13 December 1921, Nizhyn, Ukraine — 16 March 2005, Vilnius) was a Soviet Russian trumpeter, and a professor in Gnesins Musical College. He was the solo trumpeter of the Bolshoi Theater. He started to play when he was 10 years old. He finished the Central Musical School and Gnesins Musical College. In 1947 he won the International Competition in Prague. In 1957 he finished the Moscow State Conservatory. He became one of the outstanding trumpeters of the world, who proved that trumpet can be a solo instrument, as the violin or piano. He played both classical musical compositions and modern concertos by Alexander Arutiunian and others. Some of his records were re-issued on CD. Carole Dawn Reinhart
Carole Dawn Reinhart (born December 20, 1941) is an American musician. She is a trumpet soloist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Early life Reinhart was born on December 20, 1941, in Roselle, New Jersey, the daughter of C. O. Reinhart and Mabel Geiger Reinhart. Her mother, a trombonist, gave Reinhart her first brass lessons on the slide cornet aged two and a half years. By the age of seven she was playing trumpet duets with her brother, Rolfe, who was known as a "boy trumpeter" and also received scholarships to study music. At age 10, Reinhart received her first scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music in New York. She was the first woman to be honoured as a bandleader for the Salvation Army. David Hickman (musician)
David Hickman is an American trumpeter, author, academic, and is widely considered one of the preeminent trumpet virtuosi of the 20th century. He is a Regents' Professor of trumpet at Arizona State University and past President of the International Trumpet Guild. Life and career David Hickman received his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Colorado in 1972. He continued graduate work at Wichita State University where he was a Graduate Trumpet Teaching Assistant for two years (1972–74). Frank Kaderabek
Frank John Kaderabek (born 1929) is the former principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra (1975-1995) and former trumpet instructor of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Career Born in Chicago, he studied with Edward Masacek and Adolph Herseth and moved to New York to study with Harry Glantz and Nathan Prager. He was principal trumpet of the Dallas Symphony (1953-1958), assistant/third trumpet with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (1958-1967) and principal with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (1967-1975) before joining the Philadelphia Orchestra under chief conductor Eugene Ormandy. Leonard Candelaria is an American trumpeter and educator residing in Birmingham, Alabama. Until Fall 2009, he served as Professor of Trumpet and Artist in Residence at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ( UAB). Ryan Anthony
Ryan Anthony (May 17, 1969 – June 23, 2020) was an American trumpet player known for his performances as a member of Canadian Brass and his role as principal trumpet of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He died on June 23, 2020, after an eight-year battle with cancer. Early life and education Anthony was born to Roy and Ruby Anthony. His father was a band director, and his mother was a cellist and piano instructor. Anthony began playing the violin. At age nine, he decided to switch to trumpet at the encouragement of his trumpet-playing grandfather. He attended Grossmont High and graduated from Mount Miguel High in San Diego County, California. Bobby Shew
Bobby Shew (born March 4, 1941) is an American jazz trumpet and flugelhorn player. Biography He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. After leaving college in 1960, Shew was drafted into the U.S. Army and played trumpet and toured with the NORAD joint forces band stationed in Colorado Springs. After leaving the Army, Shew joined Tommy Dorsey's band and then played with the Woody Herman and then the Buddy Rich big bands in the mid-to-late 1960s. He was a trumpeter in Tom Jones's band while in Las Vegas, and is featured on his 1971 live album ''Live at Caesar's Palace''. In 1972, Shew moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, where he did much studio work as well as play with some of the top big bands of the era through the end of the 1970s: Akiyoshi/Tabackin, Louis Bellson, Maynard Ferguson, and others. Fred Mills (musician)
William Frederick Mills (March 15, 1935 – September 7, 2009) was a Canadian trumpeter and educator best known for his work with the Canadian Brass quintet from 1972 to 1996. He also served as a professor for the University of Georgia from 1996 until 2009. He also played solo, first-chair trumpet with the American Symphony Orchestra and the Houston Symphony Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski, the New York City Opera Orchestra, the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the National Arts Center Orchestra of Canada, the Casals Festival Orchestra in Puerto Rico and others, according to a biography from the University of Georgia.
