International Conference Centre Wales
The International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) ( cy, Canolfan Gynadledda Rhyngwladol Cymru) is a 5,000-capacity venue in the city of Newport, South Wales. The venue has a main auditorium with fixed seating for 1,500 delegates, six rooms of exhibition space, and of pillar-free space. ICC Wales is located on the Celtic Manor Resort site which hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup and 2014 NATO summit. The venue is a public/private enterprise with Welsh Government providing £22.5m grant funding and taking a 50/50 share of ownership with Celtic Manor. History The construction work, which was carried out by Sisk Group, began in 2017 and the facility opened its doors for the first time on the 14 September 2019. Wales Comic Con (WCC; dually-branded as Wales Comic Con: Telford Takeover since 2019 and as Wales Comic Con: Homecoming since 2022) is a tri-annual fan convention in the United Kingdom, first held in Wrexham, North Wales in 2008, until the main event moved to Telford, England in December 2019, due to demands for a larger venue. The 2021 Welsh Open (officially the 2021 BetVictor Welsh Open) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 15 to 21 February 2021 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. Welsh Open (snooker)
The Welsh Open is a professional ranking snooker tournament that has been held annually since 1992. It replaced the Welsh Professional Championship, which ran annually from 1980 to 1991 and was open only to Welsh players. The Welsh Open is now the longest running ranking event after the World Championship and the UK Championship. Since the 2016–17 season, it has been one of four tournaments in the Home Nations Series, alongside the Northern Ireland Open, the Scottish Open, and the English Open. The UK Space Conference is an biennial conference devoted to space, held in the United Kingdom. The conference hosts the annual Sir Arthur Clarke Award prizegiving dinner in its conference years. History The UK Space Conference evolved out of the British Rocket Oral History Programme (BROHP) annual conference which had been running since 1998.
