International Committee On Computational Linguistics
The International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL) was founded by Dr. David Hays of the RAND Corporation in 1965 to promote the biennial International Conference on Computational Linguistics, which since the third conference in Stockholm is known by the acronym COLING after the Swedish fictional character Kolingen by Albert Engström. David G

Computational linguistics is an Interdisciplinarity, interdisciplinary field concerned with the computational modelling of natural language, as well as the study of appropriate computational approaches to linguistic questions. In general, computational linguistics draws upon linguistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, logic, philosophy, cognitive science, cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics, anthropology and neuroscience, among others. Albert Engström
Albert Engström (1869 – 1940) was a Swedish artist, author and member of the Swedish Academy from 1922. Albert Engström. ''sv.wikipedia.org''. Retrieved: June 27, 2013. Author and Artist Engström was born in Lönneberga, Kalmar County ( Småland) but spent most of his childhood in Hult (near Eksjö), where his father was the railroad stationmaster. In 1892 he enrolled at the Valand School of Fine Arts in Gothenburg to study under Carl Larsson. Jun'ichi Tsujii
is a Japanese computer scientist specializing in natural language processing and text mining, particularly in the field of biology and bioinformatics. Education Tsujii received his Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Kyoto University in 1971, 1973, and 1978 respectively. He was Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Kyoto University, before accepting a position as Professor of Computational Linguistics at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 1988. He was President of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in 2006, and has been a permanent member of the International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL) since 1992, and the chair of the committee since 2014. Ján Horecký (8 January 1920 - 11 August 2006) was a Slovak linguist.Horecký, j. In: In 1944 he graduated in Slovak and Latin language at the Slovak University in Bratislava (now Comenius University). After graduation, Horecký became a researcher at the Slovak Academy of Sciences. In addition to study of the Slovak language, he also studied Czech, Hungarian, Latin, Ancient Greek and various constructed languages. Martin Kay
Martin Kay (1935 – 8 August 2021) was a computer scientist, known especially for his work in computational linguistics. Born and raised in the United Kingdom, he received his M.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1961. In 1958 he started to work at the Cambridge Language Research Unit, one of the earliest centres for research in what is now known as Computational Linguistics. In 1961, he moved to the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, California, US, where he eventually became head of research in linguistics and machine translation. He left Rand in 1972 to become Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. In 1974, he moved to the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center as a Research Fellow. In 1985, while retaining his position at Xerox PARC, he joined the faculty of Stanford University half-time. Aravind Joshi
Aravind Krishna Joshi (August 5, 1929 – December 31, 2017) was the Henry Salvatori Professor of Computer and Cognitive Science in the computer science department of the University of Pennsylvania. Joshi defined the tree-adjoining grammar formalism which is often used in computational linguistics and natural language processing. Joshi studied at Pune University and the Indian Institute of Science, where he was awarded a BE in electrical engineering and a DIISc in communication engineering respectively. Joshi's graduate work was done in the electrical engineering department at the University of Pennsylvania, and he was awarded his PhD in 1960. He became a professor at Penn and was the co-founder and co-director of the Institute for Research in Cognitive Science.
