Internal Security Operations Command
Internal Security Operations Command (; ) or ISOC (; ) is the internal security agency and political arm of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. It was responsible for the suppression of leftist groups from the 1960s to the 1980s. During this period it was implicated in atrocities against activists and civilians. ISOC was implicated in a plot to assassinate Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. After Thaksin was deposed by the 2006 Thai coup d'état, the junta transformed ISOC into a government within a government, giving it wide-reaching authority over the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Thailand), National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (Thailand), Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO). Abhisit Vejjajiva
Abhisit Vejjajiva (; , , ; born 3 August 1964) is a Thai politician who was the 27th prime minister of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. He was the leader of the Democrat Party from 2005 until he resigned following the party's weak performance in the 2019 election. As leader of the second largest party in the House of Representatives, he was also leader of the opposition – a position he held from 2005 to 2008 and again after his premiership until his party's en masse resignation from the House on 8 December 2013. Pallop Pinmanee (,, born 25 May 1936 in Sam Phran, Nakhon Pathom as ''Amnat Pinmanee'' (, ) is a retired Thai Army general who took part in several coups, ordered the massacre of insurgents at Krue Sae Mosque and allegedly played a role in the attempted car-bomb assassination of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Mom Rajawongse Kukrit Pramoj (, , ; 20 April 1911 – 9 October 1995) was a Thai politician, author, scholar and professor. He was Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand between 1973 and 1974. He was the thirteenth Prime Minister of Thailand, serving in office from 1975 to 1976 between his brother Seni Pramoj's terms. Prem Tinsulanonda (, , ; 26 August 1920 – 26 May 2019) was a Thai military officer, politician, and statesman who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 1980 to 1988. During Prem’s tenure as prime minister, he was credited with ending a communist insurgency and presiding over accelerating economic growth. The Communist Party of Thailand ( Abrv: CPT; , ) was a communist party in Thailand active from 1942 until the 1990s. The CPT was founded officially on 1 December 1942, although communist activism in the country began as early as 1927. In the 1960s, the CPT grew in membership and support and by the early 1970s was the second largest communist movement in mainland Southeast Asia (after Vietnam). Bueng Kan District
Mueang Bueng Kan (, ) is a capital district ('' amphoe mueang'') of Bueng Kan province, northeastern Thailand. It is 759 km north-northeast of Bangkok. History The district was originally named Chai Buri (ไชยบุรี) and was a part of Nakhon Phanom province. In 1917 it was reassigned to Nong Khai, and in 1939 it was renamed Bueng Kan. On 3 August 2010, a proposal to separate Bueng Kan province from Nong Khai province was approved by Thai government. Thirayuth Boonmee (, ; born 10 January 1950) is a Thai social scientist, public intellectual and a former student activist. Student leader While a student at Chulalongkorn University in 1973, Thirayuth led the National Student Center of Thailand (NSCT) in coordinating political activism against the military dictatorship of Thanom Kittikachorn and Praphas Charusathien. The NSCT led tens of thousands in public protests against the regime. Red Drum Massacre
The "Red Drum" or "Red Barrel" killings (, ) refers to the mass killing of more than 200 (informal accounts speak of up to 3,000) civilians who were accused of supporting communists by Thai government forces in Tambon Lam Sai, Phatthalung Province, southern Thailand, in late 1972, under the military dictatorship of Thanom Kittikachorn and Praphas Charusathien. The massacre was probably ordered by the government's Communist Suppression Operations Command (CSOC), with army, police, and volunteer defence forces being implicated in it.
