Interleukin 36 Receptor Antagonist
Interleukin 36 receptor antagonist (IL-36RA) is a member of the interleukin-36 family of cytokines. It was previously named Interleukin-1 family member 5 (IL1F5). The protein is known to inhibit the effects of Interleukin-36 cytokines ( IL-36α, IL-36β and IL-36γ) via competing with their receptor IL-36R/IL1RL2 and thereby inhibiting their proinflammatory effects. Interleukin-36
Interleukin 36, or IL-36, is a group of cytokines in the Interleukin 1, IL-1 family with pro-inflammatory effects. The role of IL-36 in inflammatory diseases is under investigation. There are four members of the IL-36 family which bind to the IL-36 receptor (IL1RL2/IL-1Rrp2/IL-36 receptor dimer) with varying affinities. IL36A, IL36B, and IL36G are IL-36 receptor agonists. Interleukin 36 receptor antagonist, IL36RA is an IL-36 receptor Receptor antagonist, antagonist, inhibiting IL-36R signaling. The agonists are known to activate NF-κB, mitogen-activated protein kinases, Erk1/2 and C-Jun N-terminal kinases, JNK through IL-36R/IL-1RAcP, which targets the Interleukin 8, IL-8 promotor and results in Interleukin 6, IL-6 secretion and induces various proinflammatory mediators. Cytokines
Cytokines are a broad and loose category of small proteins (~5–25 kDa) important in cell signaling. Cytokines are peptides and cannot cross the lipid bilayer of cells to enter the cytoplasm. Cytokines have been shown to be involved in autocrine, paracrine and endocrine signaling as immunomodulating agents. Interleukin-36 gamma previously known as interleukin-1 family member 9 (IL1F9) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''IL36G'' gene. Expression ''IL36G'' is well-expressed in the epithelium of the skin, gut, and lung. In the skin ''IL36G'' is predominantly expressed in epidermal granular layer keratinocytes with little to no expression in basal layer keratinocytes. Generalised Pustular Psoriasis
Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is an extremely rare type of psoriasis that can present in a variety of forms. Unlike the most general and common forms of psoriasis, GPP usually covers the entire body and with pus-filled blisters rather than plaques. GPP can present at any age, but is rarer in young children. It can appear with or without previous psoriasis conditions or history, and can reoccur in periodic episodes. Signs and symptoms GPP presents as pustules and plaques over a wide area of the body. It differs from the localized form of pustular psoriasis in that patients are often febrile and systemically ill. However, the most prominent symptom, as described in the ''Archives of Dermatology'', is "sheeted, pinhead-sized, sterile, sub-corneal pustules".
