Intercity Football League
Intercity Football League () was the top-ranked division in the Taiwanese football (soccer) league run by Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA), run from 2007 until 2016. From 2017, it was replaced by the Taiwan Football Premier League. History The Intercity Football League was founded in 2007 after the transformation of then highest-ranked National First Division Football League (later Enterprise Football League). Different from the later, registered players were initially grouped by their Administrative divisions of the Republic of China, places of residence, such as Tainan City, rather than specialized football teams, such as Taiwan Power Company F.C., Taiwan Power Company (Taipower). The only exception was Tatung F.C., Tatung FC, who represented Taipei City to compete in the league. Yilan County, alternately spelled I-lan, is a County (Taiwan), county in northeastern Taiwan, Republic of China. Name The name ''Yilan'' derives from the Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous Kavalan people. Other former names in reference to this area in the Yilan Plain include ''Kabalan'', ''Kavalan'', ''Kavaland'', ''kap-a-lan'', ''Yiland'' and ''Gilan''. Before 2009, the county's official name was transliterated as Ilan. History Early history Since early ages, many people have traveled from far places to Yilan. 2012 Intercity Football League
The 2012 Intercity Football League was the sixth season of the Intercity Football League since its establishment in 2007. Taipower FC were the defending champions, having won the league for the 3rd time last season. The league was decided on the last day of the season. Despite losing 1-0 to Tatung FC, Taipower FC clinched their 4th league title due to their superior goal difference, and in doing so qualified for the 2013 AFC President's Cup. National Sports Training Center Football Team
National Sports Training Center is a football team based in Tainan, and is the football club for Taiwan's National Sports Training Center. It was merged in 2003 with the Lukuang football team, Taiwan's land army football team, after the option of alternate service in the Taiwanese militia. It participated in Taiwan Football Premier League. History Formerly known as the Lukuang football team () or Taiwan Army football team, the NTSC football team belonged to the Republic of China Army and competed in the Chinese Taipei National Football League. Since the Republic of China has the policy of conscription for all male citizens, qualified footballers could choose to join the Lukuang football team instead of the regular militia service after passing the tryouts. It helped the players to keep their form and provided additional selection and management to the Chinese Taipei national football team. 2010 Intercity Football League
The 2010 Intercity Football League is the fourth season of the Intercity Football League since its establishment in 2007. It started on April 10, 2010. The promotion and relegation regulations used in the 2009 season were cancelled. The 2010 season had only one division. In addition, the league competitions were separated into 2 rounds. A total of 9 teams competed in the first round, and the best 6 would be qualified to the second round. Famed Taiwanese semiconductor design company MediaTek became the league's major sponsor right before the round 2 began. Therefore, it is also called the MediaTek Intercity Football League. 2009 Intercity Football League
The 2009 Intercity Football League season is the third since its establishment in 2007. It started from February 14, 2009. At the end of 2008, the Chinese Taipei Football Association decided to merge the Enterprise Football League into the Intercity Football League, and therefore the latter became the highest-ranked football league in Taiwan. The league included two divisions. Division A consisted of six teams, and the remaining teams participated in Division B. The last-placed team in Division A would be relegated to Division B while the champion of Division B would move up to Division A. New league regulations required each team to be named after the administrative division in which they were located. Each team also needed two-thirds of its players to reside in the area for at least one month. Chiayi (, Taigi POJ: ''Ka-gī''; ), officially known as Chiayi City, is a city located in the plains of southwestern Taiwan. Formerly called ''Kagee'' during the late Qing dynasty and ''Kagi'' during the Japanese era (), its historical name is ''Tirosen''. History Early history First inhabited by the Hoanya aborigines, the region was named Tirosen (variants ''Tirocen'', ''Tiracen''). The 2007 season was the first season of the Intercity Football League in Taiwan. Eight teams were scheduled to compete in the 2007 league season, but Kaohsiung County withdrew before the league's opening.
