The Intel AppUp center was a digital storefront for existing and new PC software, apps, content and entertainment, developed by Intel for Windows-based Ultrabook devices, netbooks, laptops, and personal computers. Peter Biddle, Intel AppUp's marketplace visionary, called Intel AppUp "the world's largest app store that nobody's ever heard of." Intel AppUp had a presence in more than 60 countries with the ability to conduct transactions in more than 45 countries in 5 languages. Users were able to browse a catalog of applications for download and purchase. A software release life cycle is the sum of the stages of development and maturity for a piece of computer software ranging from its initial development to its eventual release, and including updated versions of the released version to help improve the software or fix software bugs still present in the software. Allmyapps was an application store for Microsoft Windows. The service allowed users to install, update and organize over 1,500 PC applications. History Allmyapps developed an application manager for Ubuntu before entering Microsoft's IDEEs program and receiving 1 million euro from Elaia Partners in 2010. The company launched the first Windows application store as a beta version at LeWeb in December 2010, for which it won the Startup Pitch competition. Tizen
Tizen () is a Linux-based mobile operating system backed by the Linux Foundation, mainly developed and used primarily by Samsung Electronics. The project was originally conceived as an HTML5-based platform for mobile devices to succeed MeeGo. Samsung merged its previous Linux-based OS effort, Bada, into Tizen, and has since used it primarily on platforms such as wearable devices and smart TVs. Much of Tizen is open source software, although the software development kit contains proprietary components owned by Samsung, and portions of the OS are licensed under the Flora License, a derivative of the Apache License 2.0 that grants a patent license only to "Tizen certified platforms". MeeGo
MeeGo is a discontinued Linux distribution hosted by the Linux Foundation, using source code from the operating systems Moblin (produced by Intel) and Maemo (produced by Nokia). Primarily targeted at mobile devices and information appliances in the consumer electronics market, MeeGo was designed to act as an operating system for hardware platforms such as netbooks, entry-level desktops, nettops, tablet computers, mobile computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, SmartTV / ConnectedTV, IPTV-boxes, smart phones, and other embedded systems. Nokia wanted to make MeeGo its primary smartphone operating system in 2010, but after a change in direction it was stopped in February 2011, leaving Intel alone in the project.
