Inside A Dream (album)
''Inside a Dream '' is the third Extended play, EP by indie pop band Echosmith, and was released on September 29, 2017, as the first release since guitarist Jamie Sierota left the band to take care of his newborn son. The band originally intended to release their second album on this date, but pushed its release back. Reception Neil Z. Yeung of AllMusic gave a positive review, saying, "After delaying their anticipated sophomore LP -- which was expected in late 2017 -- American pop trio Echosmith instead released the EP ''Inside a Dream''. Issued as an appetizer to tide over their fans, the seven-song release is an interesting, though not entirely surprising, departure from the early, more guitar-based style found on their debut, ''Talking Dreams''. Here, the Sierota siblings -- Sydney, Noah, and Graham -- push synth-pop to the fore, creating a blend that sounds like ''1989 (Taylor Swift album), 1989''-era Taylor Swift fronting the 2017 incarnations of PVRIS or MisterWives. ... 1989 (Taylor Swift Album)
''1989'' is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It was released on October 27, 2014, by Big Machine Records. After music critics questioned her status as a country musician following her pop and electronic-influenced fourth studio album ''Red'' (2012), Swift was inspired by 1980s synth-pop to recalibrate her artistry from country to pop music. On ''1989'', titled after her birth year to signify her symbolic artistic rebirth, Swift enlisted Max Martin as co-executive producer. The album's synth-pop sound is characterized by heavy synthesizers, programmed drums, and processed backing vocals. The songs, expanding on Swift's songwriting practice taking inspiration from her personal life, express lighthearted perspectives towards failed relationships, departing from her previous hostile attitude. Swift and Big Machine promoted the album extensively through product endorsements, television, radio appearances and social media. They pulled ''1989'' from ... Synth-pop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk. It arose as a distinct genre in Japan and the United Kingdom in the post-punk era as part of the new wave movement of the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Electronic musical synthesizers that could be used practically in a recording studio became available in the mid-1960s, and the mid-1970s saw the rise of electronic art musicians. After the breakthrough of Gary Numan in the UK Singles Chart in 1979, large numbers of artists began to enjoy success with a synthesizer-based sound in the early 1980s. In Japan, Yellow Magic Orchestra introduced the TR-808 rhythm machine to popular music, and t ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
