Ingvar S. Melin
Ingvar Selimson Melin (29 June 1932 – 10 June 2011) was a Finnish politician, born in Pedersöre. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1966 to 1972, from 1975 to 1983 and from 1987 to 1991, representing the Swedish People's Party of Finland. He served as Minister of Defence from 30 November 1975 to 29 September 1976. The Swedish-speaking population of Finland (whose members are called by many names; fi, suomenruotsalainen) can be used as an attribute., group=Note—see below; sv, finlandssvenskar; fi, suomenruotsalaiset) is a linguistic minority in Finland. They maintain a strong identity and are seen either as a separate cultural or ethnic group, while still being considered ethnic Finns, or as a distinct nationality. They speak Finland Swedish, which encompasses both a standard language and distinct dialects that are mutually intelligible with the dialects spoken in Sweden and, to a lesser extent, other Scandinavian languages.
