Ingolstadt (electoral District)
Ingolstadt is an electoral constituency (German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 216. It is located in central Bavaria, comprising the city of Ingolstadt, the district of Eichstätt, and the northern part of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district. Ingolstadt was created for the inaugural 1949 federal election. Since 2009, it has been represented by Reinhard Brandl of the Christian Social Union (CSU). Geography Ingolstadt is located in central Bavaria. As of the 2021 federal election, it comprises the independent city of Ingolstadt, the district of Eichstätt, and the municipalities of Bergheim, Burgheim, Ehekirchen, Karlshuld, Karlskron, Königsmoos, Neuburg an der Donau, Oberhausen, Rennertshofen, Rohrenfels, and Weichering from the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen. Bundestag
The Bundestag (, "Federal Diet") is the German federal parliament. It is the only federal representative body that is directly elected by the German people. It is comparable to the United States House of Representatives or the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. 1961 West German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in West Germany on 17 September 1961 to elect the members of the fourth Bundestag. CDU/CSU remained the largest faction, winning 242 of the 499 seats. Campaign For the first time, the SPD announced a Chancellor candidate who was not chairman of the party: Willy Brandt, the Governing Mayor of West Berlin. After the building of the Berlin Wall, he gained more and more sympathy, while chancellor Konrad Adenauer was criticised for not showing enough support for the people of West Berlin. Adenauer had to save the absolute majority of CDU and CSU, but, considering his age and his long term as chancellor, there were big doubts if he should lead the country in a fourth term. Federal elections were held in West Germany on 6 September 1953 to elect the members of the second Bundestag. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) emerged as the largest party. This elections were the last before Saarland joined West Germany in 1957. It had been a separate entity, Saar protectorate, under French control since 1946. Pfaffenhofen (district)
Pfaffenhofen () is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Eichstätt, Kelheim, Freising, Dachau and Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, and the city of Ingolstadt. History In early medieval times the region was partially property of the powerful monasteries of Ilmmünster and Münchsmünster, and partially divided into tiny secular states. One of those states was the county of Scheyern. The counts were ancestors of the Wittelsbach family, who in 1180 became rulers of Bavaria. From that time on the region was a part of Bavaria.
