Ingebrikt Jensen
Brikt Jensen (15 September 1928 – 14 November 2011) was a Norwegian publisher, writer, journal editor, professor who also hosted a popular TV program about literature. Jensen was born in Bergen, and was made a PhD in 1964 with a thesis on François Mauriac's ''Ormebolet''. He was editor for the literary magazine ''Vinduet'' from 1964 to 1969. He was manager for the publishing house Gyldendal Norsk Forlag from 1970 to 1980, and senior consultant from 1980 to 1993. From 1984 to 1990 he also presented the television program ''Bokstavelig talt'' for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, and from 1988 to 1992 he was a professor II in media studies at the University of Bergen. Bergen
Bergen (), historically Bjørgvin, is a city and municipality in Vestland county on the west coast of Norway. , its population is roughly 285,900. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway. The municipality covers and is on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city centre and northern neighbourhoods are on Byfjorden, 'the city fjord', and the city is surrounded by mountains; Bergen is known as the "city of seven mountains". Carl Joachim Hambro (philologist)
Carl Joachim Hambro (7 June 1914 – 19 February 1985) was a Norwegian novelist, journalist, essayist, translator and Romance philologist. The son of the Conservative politician C. J. Hambro, he embarked on a philological career, graduating in 1939. During the Second World War he lectured at Oslo Commerce School and the Norwegian College in Uppsala. After the war, he taught Norwegian at Sorbonne, and also started working as Paris correspondent for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation and a few Norwegian daily newspapers. Born into a well-read and educated family, Hambro developed a penchant for French literature, marking a distinction from the literary taste of his parents—they had been readers of English literature in the Anglo-American tradition. Making his debut in 1960 with the satirical novel ''De frafalnes klubb'', Hambro published trilogies and other novels for the next two decades. Sigmund Skard
Sigmund Skard (31 July 1903 – 26 May 1995) was a Norwegian poet, essayist and professor of American literature. Biography Skard was born in Kristiansand, Norway. He was a son of educators Matias Skard (1846–1927) and Gyda Christensen (1868–1916). He was a brother of Bjarne Skard (1896–1961) who served as Bishop of the Diocese of Tunsberg, of University of Oslo professor Eiliv Skard (1898–1978), of senior lecturer Vemund Skard (1909-1992) and of teacher Gunnhild Skard (1912-1999). He was a half-brother of college teacher Målfrid Birkeland (1879-1963), of University of Agriculture professor Olav Skard (1881–1965) and of horticulturalist Torfinn Skard (1891–1970).
