Inga Bjørnson
Inga Bjørnson (4 March 1871 – 8 March 1952) was a Norwegian philanthropist and theatre leader. Personal life She was born in Christiania, a daughter of Peter Elias Bjørnson and Laura Marie Mathilde Riiser Larsen, and niece of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. She was married first to painter Eyolf Soot, later to actor Harald Stormoen. She is the mother of Botten Soot and Guri Stormoen. Career Bjørnson is particularly known as a pioneer of children's theatre in Norway. She founded her own children's theatre in 1920, the first Scandinavian theatre where children performed for children. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Eyolf Soot
Eyolf Soot (24 April 1859 – 30 August 1928) was a Norwegian painter. Biography Eyolf Soot was born in Aremark in Østfold, Norway. He was the grandson of engineer and canal builder, Engebret Soot. Large parts of childhood were spent in New York City where his father, Even Soot, worked as an engineer. His father died when Eyolf Soot was 17 years. Subsequently his mother left with her the children for Norway. They first lived in Lillehammer before they moved to Christiania (now Oslo) where Soot continued his artistic education at the Royal Drawing School and at the painting school of Knud Bergslien. In 1878, he spent five months at the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe in Berlin under Karl Gussow and three months later in 1881 under Gyula Benczúr at the academy in Munich. Harald Stormoen
Harald Stormoen (8 September 1872 – 14 November 1937) was a Norwegian actor. Personal life Stormoen was born in Nord-Odal as a son of farmer Marius Stormoen. He was a half-brother of Hans Stormoen, an uncle of Kjell Stormoen and a granduncle of Even Stormoen. By education, Stormoen had the examen artium from 1890 as well as one year at the Norwegian Military Academy. From October 1900 to 1909 he was married to Inga Bjørnson (1871–1952); they had the child Guri Stormoen who became an actress. In July 1909 Harald Stormoen married Alfhild Larsen (1883–1974). Acting career After some years in the United States, where he made his acting debut, Stormoen returned to Norway in 1895 and worked at various theatres. Botten Soot
Botten Soot (born Ingeborg Bergit Soot; 22 March 1895 – 21 May 1958) was a Norwegian actress, singer, and dancer. Her primary venue was the cabaret and revue theatre Chat Noir, where she performed for most of her career. Early and personal life Born in Bergen, Soot was the daughter of the painter Eyolf Soot (1859–1928) and children's theatre pioneer Inga Bjørnson (1871–1952). Her parents divorced in 1900; her mother married the actor Harald Stormoen when Botten was five years old, and Botten Soot was thus a half-sister of the actress Guri Stormoen. She also gave birth to a child, the actor Svend von Düring. Guri Stormoen
Guri Stormoen (10 September 1901 – 1 November 1974) was a Norwegian actress. She was active both on stage and in film. Biography She was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway as a daughter of actor Harald Stormoen (1872–1937) and his first wife, theatre leader Inga Bjørnson (1871–1952). She was a half-sister of Botten Soot and half-aunt of Svend von Düring through her mother's earlier marriage to Eyolf Soot. Also through her mother, Guri Stormoen was a grandniece of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. On her paternal side she was a relative of Hans Stormoen, Kjell Stormoen and Even Stormoen. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson
Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson ( , ; 8 December 1832 – 26 April 1910) was a Norwegian writer who received the 1903 Nobel Prize in Literature "as a tribute to his noble, magnificent and versatile poetry, which has always been distinguished by both the freshness of its inspiration and the rare purity of its spirit". The first Norwegian Nobel laureate, he was a prolific polemicist and extremely influential in Norwegian public life and Scandinavian cultural debate. Bjørnson is considered to be one of the four great Norwegian writers, alongside Ibsen, Lie, and Kielland. He is also celebrated for his lyrics to the Norwegian national anthem, "Ja, vi elsker dette landet". is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991).
