Inez Storer
Inez Mary Romanoff (, formerly Storer; born October 11, 1933), known as Inez Storer, is an American painter and mixed-media artist who creates work in the magical realism genre. Biography Storer was born in Santa Monica, California, on October 11, 1933, to a Catholic father, Franz Bachelin, and a Jewish mother, Anita Hirtfield. She was raised in her father's Catholic faith. When her mother was on her deathbed, Storer learned that her mother fled Germany to escape Nazism. Storer had believed that there was more to her family's past than she had been told and had suspected that she had Jewish ancestry since the age of thirteen. Storer's mother said that all of her relatives had died, but after her mother's death, Storer reportedly located more than two dozen cousins, some living in California. Naïve Art
Naïve art is usually defined as visual art that is created by a person who lacks the formal education and training that a professional artist undergoes (in anatomy, art history, technique, perspective, ways of seeing). When this aesthetic is emulated by a trained artist, the result is sometimes called '' primitivism'', ''pseudo-naïve art'', or ''faux naïve art''. Linda Lee Alter
Linda Lee Alter (born 1939) is an American visual artist who is primarily known as an art collector and philanthropist. In 2010 Alter donated five hundred artworks by American female artists to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Life and Education Alter graduated from Olney High School in 1957, and from the Philadelphia College of Art in 1961. After 30 years of being a fiber artist, painting with acrylics became her medium of choice. De Young (museum)
The de Young Museum, formally the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum, is a fine arts museum located in San Francisco, California. Located in Golden Gate Park, it is a component of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, along with the Legion of Honor. The de Young is named for early San Francisco newspaperman M. H. de Young. History The museum opened in 1895 as an outgrowth of the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894 (a fair modeled on the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition of the previous year).
