Indrevevring (also known as Vevring) is a village in Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern shore of the Førdefjorden, about southeast of the village of Stavang (in Kinn Municipality) and about northwest of the village of Helle. The village of Kvammen (in Askvoll Municipality) lies directly south, across the fjord. The village of Indrevevring had a population (2001) of 143 residents. Vevring
Vevring is a former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. It encompassed the land surrounding the western part of the Førdefjorden on both the north and south shores of the fjord in what is now Kinn, Askvoll, and Sunnfjord municipalities in Vestland county. It stretched from the Ålasundet strait (the narrowest part of the fjord) in the east to the mouth of the fjord in the west and from the Steindalen valley in the north to the mountains south of the fjord. The municipality was in 1964 when it was dissolved. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Indrevevring (on the north shore of the fjord), where the Vevring Church is located. Vevring Church
Vevring Church ( no, Vevring kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sunnfjord Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Indrevevring. It is one of two churches for the Naustdal parish which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1846 by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 225 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1330, but the church was not new at that time. The first church in Vevring was likely a wooden stave church that was built during the 12th century. During the 1600s, the church was renovated and expanded. Kvammen
Kvammen is a small village located on the south side of the Førdefjorden in Askvoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located about north of the village of Dale and about northeast of the municipal center of Askvoll. The town of Førde and access to the European route E39 highway is east of Kvammen. The smaller village of Stongfjorden lies about to the west. Historically, this area of Askvoll was part of the old Vevring municipality.
