Indonesian Aerospace N-245
Indonesian Aerospace N-245 is an Indonesian turboprop airliner being developed by Indonesian Aerospace. A refinement of the CASA/IPTN CN-235, the N-245 is designed for greater passenger capacity and lower operating costs than the CN-235. The N-245 has a longer body, and a newer engine type, a T-tail and no ramp door. Design and development When President Joko Widodo took office on 20 October 2014, he ordered the revival of several Indonesian aircraft in order to boost the Indonesian economy, including the N-250 which captured world attention in 1997. After the successful revival of the N-219 aircraft, Indonesian Aerospace decided to make an improved and larger aircraft, and chose the N-245, a 50-seat turboprop airliner, as the N-219's successor. CASA/IPTN CN-235
The CASA/IPTN CN-235 is a medium-range twin-engined transport aircraft that was jointly developed by CASA of Spain and Indonesian manufacturer IPTN. It is operated as both a regional airliner and military transport; its primary military roles include air transport and aerial surveillance. Development of the CN-235 formally commenced in 1980 following the formation of the ''Airtech International'' joint venture on 17 October 1979. Its existence was publicly unveiled at the 1981 Paris Airshow. On 11 November 1983, the prototype CN-235 conducted its maiden flight; the first production aircraft followed on 19 August 1986. Turboprop
A turboprop is a turbine engine that drives an aircraft propeller. A turboprop consists of an intake, reduction gearbox, compressor, combustor, turbine, and a propelling nozzle. Air enters the intake and is compressed by the compressor. Fuel is then added to the compressed air in the combustor, where the fuel-air mixture then combusts. The hot combustion gases expand through the turbine stages, generating power at the point of exhaust. IPTN N-250
The IPTN N-250 was a turboprop regional airliner designed by Indonesian firm IPTN (''Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara'') (now Indonesian Aerospace). This aircraft was IPTN's first major effort to win the market share of the regional turboprop class of 64–68 seat airliners. The aircraft's development was eventually terminated after the Asian financial crisis of 1998. As of 21 August 2020, the PA-1 prototype is on displayed at Dirgantara Mandala Museum, Yogyakarta, as its 60th collection. The Indonesian Aerospace N-219 Nurtanio is a utility aircraft developed from the CASA C-212 Aviocar by Indonesian Aerospace. Development In 2003, after the IPTN N-250 program halt, Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) planned to develop a 19-seat aircraft to offset the IPTN NC-212 end of production.
