Indika Chathuranga D. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage ( si, ඉන්ඩිකා සි. ධි. දිස්සානායක මුදියන්සේලාගේ, born 6 August 1989), also known as Indika Dissanayake, is a Sri Lankan male weightlifter. He competed in the 69 kg division at the Asian Games (in 2010 and 2018), South Asian Games (in 2016) and at the Commonwealth Games (in 2010, 2014 and 2018), and won silver medals at the 2016 South Asian Games and 2018 Commonwealth Games. Biography Indika was born on 6 August 1989 in Hataraliyadda, Central Province of Sri Lanka. He attended the Menikdiwela Central College in Menikdiwela for his primary education and did his advanced level studies at the Kingswood College which is situated in Kandy. He also joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 2009. Career Dissanayake claimed a silver medal at the 2016 South Asian Games. The ''Daily News'' is an English-language newspaper in Sri Lanka. It is now published by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House), a government-owned corporation. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. Chaturanga Lakmal Jayasooriya Arachchilage also known as Chathuranga Lakmal (born 7 October 1988) is a Sri Lankan male weightlifter. Career He competed for Sri Lanka in the 2016 South Asian Games and claimed a silver medal in the men's 56 kg event. He was named as one of the members of the Sri Lankan contingent at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Chaturanga Lakmal also claimed the nation's first Commonwealth Games medal during the 2018 Commonwealth Games after clinching a bronze medal in the men's 56kg weightlifting event on the opening day of the competition. Sri Lanka competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia from April 4 to April 15, 2018. The Sri Lankan team consists of 139 members, including 80 athletes competing in 13 sports (15 disciplines). However, Sumesh Wickramasinghe did not compete in athletics. The country made its Commonwealth Games debut in the discipline of rhythmic gymnastics and Canadian born Anna-Marie Ondaatje became the first gymnast to represent Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games.
