Indian River (Lanark County)
The Indian River is a river in Lanark County in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin and is a left tributary of the Mississippi River. Course The river begins at an unnamed lake in geographic Lavant Township in the municipality of Lanark Highlands. It flows east into geographic Darling Township, under Lanark County Road 511 near the settlement of White, turns southeast, passes the settlement of Halls Mills on the border of geographic Lanark Township, and reaches Clayton Lake, where it takes in the outflow from Taylor Lake. The river passes into geographic Ramsay Township in the municipality of Mississippi Mills on the lake, and leaves over the Clayton Lake Dam at the settlement of Clayton. It heads northeast, takes in the right tributary Union Hall Creek, and passes through the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area, which has a former grist mill, and a former home of medical doctor, sculptor and Ramsay Township native R. The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is the provincial ministry of the Government of Ontario that is responsible for transport infrastructure and related law in Ontario. Ottawa River
The Ottawa River (french: Rivière des Outaouais, Algonquin: ''Kichi-Sìbì/Kitchissippi'') is a river in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. James Naismith
James Naismith (; November 6, 1861November 28, 1939) was a Canadian-American physical educator, physician, Christian chaplain, and sports coach, best known as the inventor of the game of basketball. After moving to the United States, he wrote the James Naismith's Original Rules of Basketball, original basketball rule book and founded the Kansas Jayhawks basketball, University of Kansas basketball program. Naismith lived to see basketball adopted as an Olympic demonstration sport in 1904 Summer Olympics, 1904 and as an official event at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, as well as the birth of the National Invitation Tournament (1938) and the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA Tournament (1939). Mill Of Kintail Conservation Area
The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area is a preserve operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, in Mississippi Mills, Ontario, Canada. The preserve features an 1830s grist mill that was a former summer home and sculpture studio of medical doctor, sculptor and Ramsay Township native, R. Tait McKenzie who kept the mill in the 20th century. The mill is home to the R. Tait Mackenzie Museum, which features many of the artist's sculptures and memorabilia, and the Naismith Museum about James Naismith, another famous native of Ramsay Township and the inventor of basketball.
