India competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. The Indian team consisted of two male athletes competing in two sports. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors participating in the delegation per sport. Cross-country skiing India qualified one male cross-country skier, Jagdish Singh. ;Distance Luge Shiva Keshavan qualified in men's singles by being ranked in the top 38 of the 2017–18 Luge World Cup standings. Keshavan qualified for his sixth Winter Olympics in the sport. This will be Keshavan's final Olympics appearance as an athlete. International Ski Federation
The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. India participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 6 October to 18 October 2018. India managed their best ever medal haul of the Youth Olympics in this edition. India competed in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from February 19 to 26. India competed in two sports (six disciplines). Luge At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's Singles
The men's luge at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held between 10 and 11 February 2018 at the Alpensia Sliding Centre near Pyeongchang, South Korea. The event was won by David Gleirscher, who became the first Austrian to win men's luge since 1968. Chris Mazdzer won the silver medal, whereas Johannes Ludwig won the bronze. For all of them, this was the first Olympic medal, and the Mazdzer's medal is the first ever medal for the United States in men's singles luge. This is the first time since 1988 than none of the medalists in men's luge had a medal of previous Olympics. The favorite and the defending Olympic champion, Felix Loch, was leading the field after three runs, but in the last run made a mistake which cost him a medal. ''The Indian Express'' is an English-language Indian daily newspaper founded in 1932. It is published in Mumbai by the Indian Express Group. Cross-country Skiing At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's 15 Kilometre Freestyle
The men's 15 kilometre freestyle cross-country skiing competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held on 16 February 2018 at 15:00 KST at the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre in Pyeongchang, South Korea. In the victory ceremony, the medals were presented by Gian-Franco Kasper, member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee, accompanied by Urs Lehmann, President of the Swiss Ski Association. Qualification A total of up to 310 cross-country skiers qualified across all eleven events. Athletes qualified for this event by having met the A qualification standard, which meant having 100 or less FIS Points or meeting the B standard, which meant 300 or less FIS points in the distance classification. Jagdish Singh (cross-country Skier)
Jagdish Singh (born 1 July 1991) is an Indian cross-country skier, who represented India at 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. He competed in men's 15 km freestyle cross-country skiing. He qualified in the Olympics for the first time. Career Singh joined the Indian Army in 2011. He received his training from Indian Army's High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg, Jammu & Kashmir. He qualified in the 2018 Winter Olympics by securing just one point above the qualification mark, during an event in Finland.
