Indian Olympic Association
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) or Indian Olympic Committee (IOC) is the body responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games, Asian Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indian teams at these events. It plays with the name of Team India. It also acts as the Indian Commonwealth Games Association, responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Commonwealth Games. Early history Background and early years: The background behind the creation of the Indian Olympic Association was related to India at the Olympics, India's participation in the 1920 and 1924 Olympics. Bhalindra Singh
Raja Bhalindra Singh (9 October 1919 – 16 April 1992) was an Indian first class cricketer and Maharajkumar of Patiala State, Patiala. His father was Maharaja Bhupinder Singh and his brother, Yadavindra Singh, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, played Test cricket for Indian national cricket team, India. Bhalindra was a right-handed middle order batsman and handy right arm slow bowler. He played just one first class match in England, for Cambridge University Cricket Club, Cambridge University in 1939 against Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, Northamptonshire. Narayana Ramachandran is an Indian squash administrator & Triathlon Administrator who served as the President of WSF (World Squash Federation). Yadavindra Singh
Maharaja Sir Yadavindra Singh () was the 9th and last ruling Maharaja of Patiala from 1938 to 1971. He was also an Indian cricketer who played in one Test in 1934. Early life and family Born at Patiala City in Patiala State, within the British Raj (now in Punjab, India) in 1914 into a Sikh Rajput family of the Yaduvanshi clan, Maharaja Yadavindra attended Aitchison College in Lahore. He served in the Patiala State Police, became its Inspector General and served in Malaya, Italy and Burma during the Second World War. In 1935, he married his first wife, Hem Prabha Devi of Saraikela State (1913–2014). Sivanthi Adithan
Sivanthi Adityan (24 September 1936 – 19 April 2013) was an Indian media baron who ran Tamil newspapers Daily Thanthi and Maalaimalar. Sivanthi started the first evening Tamil Daily Maalai Murasu at Tirunelveli in 1959. He was an educationist, an industrialist and a philanthropist. Suresh Kalmadi (born 1 May 1944) is an Indian politician who spent 10 months in jail from April 2011 to January 2012 on corruption charges related to his time in charge of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. He was accused of awarding a contract to install the timing, scoring and results system for the event to Swiss Timing at vastly inflated rates. Vijay Kumar Malhotra (born 3 December 1931) is an Indian politician and a sport administrator. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was born in the Lahore city of Punjab in British India which is now in Pakistan. He was the 4th out of the seven children of Kaviraj Khazan Chand. Sir Dorabji Tata (27 August 1859 – 3 June 1932) was an Indian businessman of the British Raj, and a key figure in the history and development of the Tata Group. Narinder Dhruv Batra (born 19 April 1957, India) was a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2019 to 2022. Air Chief Marshal Om Prakash Mehra, PVSM (19 January 1919 – 8 November 2015) was a former air officer in the Indian Air Force. He served as the Chief of the Air Staff from 1973 to 1976.
