Independence High School (Tennessee)
Independence High School is a 9–12 public high school in Thompson's Station, Tennessee. It is one of several high schools in the Williamson County Schools district. History The school opened in 2004, initially with only a freshman and sophomore class. The junior class was added in the second year and the senior class in the third. The first class of seniors graduated on May 26, 2007. The second class, which was the first to complete all 4 years at Independence, graduated May 24, 2008. The school once had approximately 2000 students, but after the creation of nearby high schools, student enrollment has decreased significantly. Administration Marilyn Webb was the first principal of Independence High from 2004 to 2008. She was replaced by Todd Campbell the summer of 2008. Campbell resigned in May 2016 and Niki Patton was named the new principal later that month. Thompson's Station, Tennessee
Thompson's Station is a town in Williamson County, Tennessee. The population has grown from 2,194 at the 2010 Census to 7,485 in the 2020 Census. Several locations in Thompson's Station listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places include the Jacob Critz House and the Thomas L. Critz House, Thompson's Station Bank, John Neely House, James P. Johnson House, Homestead Manor and James Giddens House. History The first settlers arrived in what is now Thompson's Station in the late 18th century. The community was originally known as "White House," but changed its name to "Littlebury" in 1836. After the arrival of the railroad in 1855, Dr. Elijah Thompson donated land for a town and train station, and the community was renamed for him. Rashaan Gaulden
Rashaan Malik Gaulden (born January 23, 1995) is an American football safety who is currently a member of the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football at Tennessee, and was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Early years Gaulden attended Independence High School in Thompson's Station, Tennessee. Along with football, he also participated in track and field and was named an All-American after finishing fourth nationally in the 4x400 relay. During his senior football season, he recorded 193 tackles. Robert Hassell (baseball)
Robert Harris Hassell III (born August 15, 2001) is an American baseball outfielder in the Washington Nationals organization. He was selected eighth overall by the San Diego Padres in the 2020 MLB draft. Amateur career Hassell grew up in Franklin, Tennessee, and attended Independence High School, where he was both an outfielder and a starting pitcher on the baseball team.
