Inachos, Greece
Inachos ( el, Ίναχος) is a former municipality in Aetolia-Acarnania, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Amfilochia, of which it is a municipal unit. It is located in the northernmost part of Aetolia-Acarnania. Its land area is 585.382 km². Its population was 4,760 at the 2011 census. Its municipal seat was the town of Neo Chalkiopoulo (pop. 569). Its largest other villages are Empesos (pop. 444), Amorgianoi (363), Thyamos (386), Perdikaki (356), and Nea Malesiada (308). Western Greece Region ( el, Περιφέρεια Δυτικής Ελλάδας, translit=Periféria Dhitikís Elládhas, ) is one of the thirteen administrative regions of Greece. It comprises the western part of continental Greece and the northwestern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It occupies an area of and its population is, according to the 2011 census, at 679,796 inhabitants. Aetolia-Acarnania ( el, Αιτωλοακαρνανία, ''Aitoloakarnanía'', ) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the geographic region of Central Greece and the administrative region of West Greece. A combination of the historical regions of Aetolia and Acarnania, it is the country's largest regional unit. Its capital is Missolonghi for historical reasons, with its biggest city and economic centre at Agrinio. The area is now connected with the Peloponnese peninsula via the Rio-Antirio Bridge. The surrounding regional units take in Arta in Epirus, a narrow length bordering Karditsa of Thessaly, Evrytania to the northeast, and Phocis to the east. Amfilochia
Amfilochia ( el, Αμφιλοχία) is a town and a municipality in the northwestern part of Aetolia-Acarnania in Greece, on the site of ancient Amfilochia. Under the Ottoman Empire, it was known as Karvasaras (Καρβασαράς; from '' caravanserai''). Amfilochia is situated by the Ambracian Gulf and features an amphitheatre. Amfilochia dates back to the ancient times and also features the ancient cities of Amphilochian Argos and Limnaia (or Limnaea). History According to Pausanias, it is named after king Amphilochos, son of Amphiaraus. After the fall of Troy, Amphilochos settled in the area, which consequently was called Amphilochoi until the time of Pausanias. Chalkiopoulo ( el, Χαλκιόπουλο) is a Greek village located in the northwest part of Aetolia-Acarnania. It is part of the municipal unit Inachos. History The village existed during the struggle for the independence of Greece (1821-1829) and many of its members participated in this struggle, namely the families: Alexiou (Giannakis, Stavros), Valtinos (Athanasios, Kolios, Georgakis, Georgios, Ioannis, Panos, Dimitrios and Sotiris), Kontogiannis (Mitsos, Vaggelis, Nikolaos, Spyros), Mylonas Zacharis, Nikou Andreas, Sotiris Dimos, Christou Konstantinos, Christou or Seltsikas Spyros and others. Amorgianoi
Amorgianoi ( el, Αμοργιανοί) is a village in the municipal unit of Inachos in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. At the 2011 census the population of the village proper was 363 inhabitants, and 426 for the municipal district. The altitude of the village is 170 meters. Some ancient ruins are located near the old village. Litzos Christos and Georgios Mastoras or Salodimos or Amorgianiotis were two known persons from the village who participated in different battles during the struggle for independence of Greece (1821–1830). Perdikaki ( el, Περδικάκι, before 1930: Σακαρέτσι - ''Sakaretsi'') is a village and a community located in the northeastern part of Aetolia-Acarnania. It belongs to the municipal unit of Inachos. According to the 2011 census the population was 356 for the village, and 403 for the community, which includes the village Pigadia. The altitude is about 700 meters. Malesiada
Malesiada is a village and a community in Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece. The village belongs to the municipal unit of Inachos. Through the village passes the provincial road which leads from Agrinio and Amfilochia to Empesos and further to Arta and Evrytania (through the Tatarna Bridge over the artificial lake of Kremasta). The municipal district Malesiada consists of the villages Nea Malesiada, Ano Kampos and Maraneli. Nea Malesiada Nea Malesiada is the largest village of the municipal district Malesiada. The old village Malesiada was isolated and the villagers asked from the State to reestablish it at a new place along the provincial road which connects Agrinio with Empesos in order to have better living conditions.
