''28 Days Later: The Soundtrack Album'' is the accompanying soundtrack album and original score composed by John Murphy, for the 2002 film of the same name. It was released in CD format on the 17 June 2003 additionally including tracks from Brian Eno, Grandaddy and Blue States, which also featured in the film. The second movement of " East Hastings" by the Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, albeit condensed, appeared in the film but not on the soundtrack album because the rights for the song could not be obtained. John Murphy (composer)
John Murphy (born 4 March 1965) is a British film composer. He is a self-taught multi-instrumental musician who began his career in the 1980s, working with The Lotus Eaters (band), The Lotus Eaters, Thomas Lang (singer), Thomas Lang, and Claudia Brücken. He has collaborated with directors Danny Boyle, Guy Ritchie, Michael Mann, Matthew Vaughn, Stephen Frears, and James Gunn. His awards include the Silver Award (1st Prize) at the Cannes Film Festival, a British D&AD Award, and a BMI Award. Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (sometimes abbreviated to GY!BE or Godspeed) is a Canadian post-rock band which originated in Montreal, Quebec in 1994. The group releases recordings through Constellation, an independent record label also located in Montreal. After the release of their debut album in 1997, the group toured regularly from 1998 to 2003. Their second album, 2000's ''Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven'', received critical acclaim and has been named as one of the best albums of the decade. In 2003, the band announced an indefinite hiatus in order for members to pursue other musical interests. In the intervening period, the group was occasionally rumored to have broken up, but finally reconvened for a tour which began in late 2010.
