In The Absence Of Pink
''In the Absence of Pink'' is a live album released by Deep Purple. It was originally recorded by BBC Radio on the reunited Mk II Purple's first UK gig after reforming in 1984, at the Knebworth Festival on Saturday 22 June 1985. Several of the supporting artists were also recorded, and they – together with Deep Purple – were broadcast on BBC Radio 1 the following Saturday during a programme called 'Knebworth Through The Night', which ran from 2200 to 0400. The original double CD version was released in 1991. Album content and missing songs "Under the Gun" for some reason was not recorded by the BBC and with a short version of "Woman from Tokyo" were the only omissions from the normal set-list performed on the world tour. Although "Child in Time" was sometimes featured, it was not performed at this concert. Deep Purple
Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in London in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal music, heavy metal and modern hard rock music, but their musical style has changed over the course of its existence. Ian Paice
Ian Anderson Paice (born 29 June 1948) is an English musician, best known as the drummer and last remaining original member of the rock band Deep Purple. He is often cited as one of the greatest drummers of all-time. He remains the only member of Deep Purple who has served in every line-up since the band’s inception in 1968, as well as having played on every album and at every live appearance. "Smoke on the Water" is a song by English rock band Deep Purple, first released from the band's sixth studio album ''Machine Head'' (1972), which chronicles the 1971 fire at Montreux Casino. "Black Night" is a song by British hard rock band Deep Purple, first released as a single in June 1970 and later included on the 25th Anniversary version of their 1970 album, ''Deep Purple in Rock''. It became a hit following its release, peaking at No. 2 on UK charts, and remains Deep Purple's highest charting UK single. ''Deep Purple in Rock'' is the fourth studio album by Deep Purple, released on 5 June 1970. It was the first studio album recorded by the Mark II line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord and Ian Paice. Work on ''In Rock'' began shortly after Gillan and Glover joined the band in June 1969, with rehearsals at Hanwell Community Centre. "Space Truckin'" is a song by British hard rock band Deep Purple. It is the seventh and final track on the '' Machine Head'' album and its lyrics talk of space travel. Guitarist Ritchie Blackmore claims in '' Classic Albums: Deep Purple – The Making of Machine Head'' that the song composition started with the half-step riffs in the refrain, which were inspired by the theme music for the ''Batman'' TV programme composed by Neal Hefti. Don Airey
Donald Smith Airey (born 21 June 1948) is an English musician who has been the keyboardist in the rock band Deep Purple since 2002, after the retirement of Jon Lord. He has had a long and productive career, playing with such acts as Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Whitesnake, Saxon, Wishbone Ash, Colosseum II, Ten, Sinner, Michael Schenker, Rainbow, Empire, Brian May, Divlje jagode and Living Loud. ''Difficult to Cure'' is the fifth studio album by the British hard rock band Rainbow, released in 1981. The album marked the further commercialization of the band's sound, with Ritchie Blackmore once describing at the time his appreciation of the band Foreigner. It became the band's highest-charting album on the UK Albums Chart, where it peaked at number three. Recording The album material was started with singer Graham Bonnet still in the band, getting as far as recording an early version of " I Surrender", before Bonnet left the band due to his dissatisfaction over the material, and numerous fallouts with Blackmore. American singer Joe Lynn Turner, formerly of Fandango was recruited and sang over already completed musical tracks. "Knocking at Your Back Door" is a song by the English hard rock band Deep Purple, the first track of the album '' Perfect Strangers'', which was released in October 1984. "Lazy" is a song by Deep Purple from their 1972 album ''Machine Head''. A live performance of the song can be found on the album '' Made in Japan'', released later the same year. The song starts out as an instrumental, keyboardist Jon Lord plays an overdriven Hammond organ intro, followed by the main riff and with the solo swapping between him and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Vocalist Ian Gillan comes in with the vocals later in the song. He also uses harmonica both on the studio version and live. "Perfect Strangers" is a song by the British hard rock band Deep Purple. It is the title track of their 1984 comeback album '' Perfect Strangers''.
