In A Lifetime (album)
''In a Lifetime'' is a greatest hits compilation album by Irish group Clannad. The albums contains two new tracks, "A Celtic Dream" and "Who Knows (Where the Time Goes)", the first recorded by the group since the passing of member Padraig Duggan. Released on 3 April 2020, the album was to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary as a group and they subsequently embarked on a world tour. The ''In a Lifetime'' tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In A Lifetime
"In a Lifetime" is a pop song performed by Irish artists Clannad and Bono. It was written by brothers Pól Brennan and Ciarán Brennan and produced by Steve Nye. The single was released in January 1986, and was the third single to be released from Clannad's eighth studio album ''Macalla'' (1985). It charted well in many countries including United States, Ireland, UK, Italy and Brazil. It is one of Clannad's most successful songs and it remains as Bono's most successful solo effort. The single was re-released in 1989 with a change of artwork on the cover and a different B Side ("Something To Believe In (edit)"). The song also appears on Moya Brennan's 2008 live album ''Heart Strings'' and on Triniti's début album. Gaoth Dobhair
Gweedore ( ; officially known by its Irish language name, ) is an Irish-speaking district and parish located on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal in the north-west of Ireland. Gweedore stretches some from Glasserchoo in the north to Crolly in the south and around from Dunlewey in the east to Magheraclogher in the west, and is one of Europe's most densely populated rural areas. Duke Special
Duke Special (born Peter Wilson; 4 January 1971) is a songwriter and performer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A piano-based songwriter with a romantic style and a warm, distinctly accented voice, he was previously known for his distinctive long dreadlocks, eyeliner and outfits he describes as "hobo chic". Nowadays, he performs mostly out of makeup and desires to be more like his true self. Hourglass (Clannad Song)
"Hourglass / Theme from Harry's Game" is a double A-side single by Irish musical group Clannad. It was released in 1989 to promote their best-of '' Past Present''. However, "Hourglass" does not appear on the '' Past Present'' album. This is the band's only double A-side single to date and was only available as a single until it was included on the 2-disc 1997 Netherlands compilation "In a Lifetime: The Ultimate Collection (BMG 74321 488072)" and then again on the 2020 compilation '' In a Lifetime''. Bruce Randall Hornsby (born November 23, 1954) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. "Theme from ''Harry's Game''" is a 1982 song by Clannad commissioned as the theme for ''Harry's Game'', a Yorkshire Television miniseries adapted from a 1975 novel set in The Troubles in Northern Ireland. It was released as a single in October 1982 and became a surprise hit, reaching number 5 in the UK Singles Chart the following month and number 2 in the Irish Singles Chart. Composition The song was written "in a couple of hours", credited to Pól and Ciarán Brennan. Gerald Seymour, author of ''Harry's Game'', originally wanted to use "Mhorag 's Na Horo Gheallaidh", a Scottish Gaelic song from Clannad's album ''Fuaim'', but Clannad felt Irish-language lyrics would be more appropriate. Currach
A currach ( ) is a type of Irish boat with a wooden frame, over which animal skins or hides were once stretched, though now canvas is more usual. It is sometimes anglicised as "curragh". The construction and design of the currach are unique to the west coasts of Ireland. It is referred to as a ''naomhóg'' in counties Cork, Waterford and Kerry and as a "canoe" in West Clare. It is similar to the Welsh coracle, though the two originated independently. Clannad () is an Irish band formed in 1970 in Gweedore, County Donegal by siblings Ciarán, Pól Brennan, Pól, and Moya Brennan and their twin uncles The Duggans, Noel and Pádraig Duggan.
