InExordium
Paramaecium (sometimes typeset as Paramæcium) was an Australian death/doom metal band formed in 1991. There is use of instrumentation like flutes, cellos and violins on some albums. Paramaecium is one of the few doom metal bands that focus on Christian lyrical themes and Christian concepts. According to Doom-metal.com, "what sets Paramaecium apart from other bands in the doom metal scene, is the fact that they are the only Christian death/doom band that made it to the top of the genre." History In 1993, Paramaecium released their debut album, ''Exhumed of the Earth''. The band consisted of Andrew Tompkins on vocals and bass, Jason De Ron on guitar, and Jayson Sherlock on drums. The music was inspired by Cathedral, early My Dying Bride and Anathema. Andrew Tompkins
Andrew Tompkins is the lead vocalist and bassist for the Australian doom metal band Paramaecium, which was considered to be the biggest Christian doom metal band. Andrew has a daughter named Enara. Tompkins' cousin is Mark Orr, former drummer of Paramaecium. Tompkins has also written a book entitled "Within the Ancient Forest". The Paramaecium album of the same name was based on this novel. Jayson Sherlock
Jayson Sherlock (born 1970) is a Christian metal musician from Australia. He began his career in the Australian death metal band Mortification, which was considered to be a major pioneer in the genre. Sherlock was the founder of the one-man project unblack metal band Horde, in which he played every instrument. He has also been in other bands such as Paramaecium, inExordium, Altera Enigma, and Soundscape. During 2012, he was the drummer for Deliverance. He is currently the drummer for the death metal band Revulsed. Biography Style Sherlock is known for his unique and extremely fast double bass pedal and blast beat technique. Jason De Ron
Jason De Ron (born 1973) is a musician from Melbourne, Australia, most notable for being the former guitarist for the death/doom band Paramaecium and co founder and guitarist of the avant garde/progressive metal band Altera Enigma. Biography Jason De Ron was born in about 1973, he began playing guitar in 1987 after hearing a guitar solo by Dave Murray of Iron Maiden, and joined Paramaecium in 1992. Jason first met Andrew Tompkins in a cemetery one night in 1991. He was there with Colin "Mosh" Mynard who was a friend of his, and Paramaecium's original guitarist. They were there to photograph the grave for the cover of the ''Silent Carnage'' demo. Paramaecium Jason got to know Andrew further when he attended a Paramaecium rehearsal as they prepared for an upcoming gig with Mortification. Revulsed
Revulsed is a technical/brutal death metal band that originated in Australia in 2010. Revulsed's debut album '' Infernal Atrocity'' was featured on No Clean Singing and Trevor Strnad of the Black Dahlia Murder's best albums of 2015 lists. History After the demise of the Christian doom metal band Paramaecium (later inExordium), Jayson Sherlock and Sheldon D'Costa formed Revulsed in 2010. The band wrote their debut album for five years with Justin "Yowie" Smith formerly of fellow Australian Christian death metal band, Metanoia, still in search for a vocalist. For a brief time they had Peter Ball of Those Who Endure as their vocalist; it was not a good fit and Ball left. Cathedral were a doom metal band from Coventry, England. The group gained attention upon release of its debut album, ''Forest of Equilibrium'' (1991), which is considered a classic of the genre. However, the band's sound evolved quickly and began to adopt characteristics of 1970s metal, hard rock and progressive rock. After releasing ten full-length albums and touring extensively for over two decades, Cathedral broke up after the release of ''The Last Spire'' in 2013. Ashen Mortality
Ashen Mortality were a British doom metal band formed in 1993 by Ian Arkley (Seventh Angel) and Melanie Bolton. They and Paramaecium are among the best known Christian doom metal bands, though they were always wary of being typecast as such. They recorded two demos, and two albums, and played many gigs in England, the Netherlands and Germany. Featuring clean and growled male vocals, and female vocals, their music was heavy, slow to mid-paced, and influenced by medieval music, black, doom, death and goth. The band split up in 2005, when Arkley went on to form My Silent Wake. Biography The first demo tape, ''Ashen Mortality'', was recorded at The Wall, Birmingham, England, from 9–11 October 1993, and engineered by Andy Wickett.
