Imam Baksh Pahalwan
Imam Baksh Lone (1883-1977) was an Indian wrestler and a practitioner of the Indian wrestling style of Pehlwani. Imam was also the brother of Ghulam "The Great Gama" Muhammad Lone. Imam had arrived in England by April, 1910, along with fellow wrestlers from India, including his brother Ghulam Muhammad, Ahmed Bux, and Gamu, to participate in European catch wrestling tournaments. ''Health and Strength'' magazine announced ''"The Invasion of the Indian Wrestlers"'' in its 14 May 1910, issue. The members of the Indian group were listed as Gama, Champion of India; Imam Baksh, Champion of Lahore; Ahmed Baksh, Champion of Amritsar; and Gamu, Champion of Jalandhar. Imam Baksh wrestled Swiss champion John Lemm during his career. The match between Baksh and Lemm ended with Baksh defeating the Swiss champion. Bholu Pahalwan
Manzoor Hussain (1922–1985), also known as Bholu Pahalwan, was a Pakistani wrestler and held the world heavyweight title. Biography Bholu came from a Kashmiri family of renowned wrestlers from Amritsar and after the independence of Pakistan in 1947, moved to Lahore, Pakistan. He lived in Amritsar until he was nine. Then during one of his school holidays, Bholu moved to Patiala to visit his father, who was also a wrestler. He was Gama Pehelwan's nephew. He died on 6 March 1985 in Pakistan. His son Nasir Bholu is also a wrestler. Career 1930s Bholu started his wrestling career in Radhanpur under the guidance of Hamida Pahalwan Rehmaniwala, real name Abdul Hamid Al Maroof Rehmani, who was an official wrestler of that state. In 1935, at age 13, Bholu made his first appearance in a wrestling contest at Lahore. He competed with Ahmad Baksh to a draw for a duration of twelve minutes. Catch Wrestling
Catch wrestling (originally catch-as-catch-can) is a classical hybrid grappling style and combat sport. It was developed by J. G. Chambers in Britain . It was popularised by wrestlers of travelling funfairs who developed their own submission holds, or "hooks", into their wrestling to increase their effectiveness against their opponents. Catch wrestling derives from various different international styles of wrestling: several English styles (primarily Lancashire, as well as Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, Devonshire, and Irish collar-and-elbow wrestling). Stanislaus Zbyszko
'Jan Stanisław Cyganiewicz'' (April 1, 1879 – September 23, 1967), better known by his ring name, Stanislaus Zbyszko, was a Polish strongman and professional wrestler. He was a three-time World Heavyweight Champion at his highest profile in the United States during the 1920s. The surname ''Zbyszko'' was only a nickname, given to him by friends due to his bravery when he was a child. The name comes from a fictional medieval Polish knight in the historical novel, ''The Knights of the Cross'' by Henryk Sienkiewicz (published in 1900). Aslam Pahalwan
Muhammad Aslam ( ur, ; 14 January 1927 – 7 January 1989), popularly known as Aslam Pahalwan was a Pakistani professional wrestler and World Heavyweight Champion in professional wrestling. He was ranked as the world's No.9 by Wrestling Revue "Official Wrestling Ratings in December 1968. In Europe and America, he had wrestled as the ''All-India-Champion''.
