Ilyas Gorchkhanov
Ilyas (Ilias) Gorchkhanov (1967 – 13 October 2005) was the first leader of the Ingush Jamaat, which later became part of the Caucasus Front's Ingushetian Sector in Ingushetia of the Second Chechen War. Gorchkhanov, an ethnic Ingush, allegedly started his military career as a volunteer fighting in Chechnya. When the Ingush Jamaat started getting shape, he became the leader of the Nazran unit and was later often cited as the leader of the entire Jamaat. The 2005 raid on Nalchik was a raid by a large group of Islamic militants on Nalchik (pop. 250,000), in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic (KBR) of southern Russia, on 13 October 2005. A number of buildings associated with the Russian security forces were targeted. Vilayat Galgayche (russian: Вилайят Галгайче, Vilayyat Galgayche; inh, Вилаят ГӀалгӀайче, Vilayat Ghalghayche), was an Islamist militant organization connected to numerous attacks against the local and federal security forces in the Russian regions of Ingushetia and Chechnya in the North Caucasus. Since 2007 it has been a part of the Caucasus Emirate and takes part in the Insurgency in the North Caucasus. The group is thought to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people, mostly policemen, military personnel and officials.
