Iloilo City Proper
Iloilo City Proper (''City Proper'') (also locally known as Downtown, Ciudad, Iloilo Poblacion, or simply Iloílo) is one of the seven districts of Iloilo City in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is the second-most densely populated district, after Molo. It serves as the civic center of the city, housing the seat of the city and provincial governments, as well as other local, provincial, and regional government offices. The district also houses the majority of the city's financial institutions, where banks and other firms can be found on every corner of the streets. Iloilo City Proper is the current economic and financial center of Iloilo. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 46,350 people. Dinagyang Festival
The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines, held annually on the 4th Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog in Cebu and the Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo, Aklan. It is one of the biggest festivals in the Philippines, attracting more than a million domestic and international visitors every year. The festival is the only one in the Philippines that has been awarded by the Association of Tourism Officers in the Philippines (ATOP) as the best tourism event for three consecutive years in 2006, 2007, and 2008. Calle Real (''Royal Street'' in Spanish), officially named as J.M. Basa Street, is a historic street located in the old downtown district Iloilo City Proper of Iloilo City, Philippines.The street often referred to as the "Escolta of Iloilo". It is home to several fine examples of historic luxury American era neoclassical, beaux-arts, and art deco buildings. The street has been famous since the Spanish Era. The ''Maragtas'' is a work by Pedro Alcantara Monteclaro titled (in English translation) ''History of Panay from the first inhabitants and the Bornean immigrants, from which they descended, to the arrival of the Spaniards''. Molo, Iloilo City
Molo () is a district of Iloilo City in Iloilo Province, on Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is the most densely populated district of all the seven districts of Iloilo City. Molo was a separate municipality before it was incorporated into the then-municipality of Iloilo by virtue of Act No. 719 of 1903. Molo was originally the ''Parián'' (Chinese district or Chinatown) of Iloilo, which is the area that the Chinese residents of Iloilo lived in. Iloilo City's At-large Congressional District
Iloilo City's at-large congressional district is the city-wide electoral district in Iloilo City, Philippines. It has been electing representatives at-large to the House of Representatives since 1987 and earlier to the National Assembly from 1943 to 1944. The district was first formed ahead of the 1943 Philippine legislative election following the ratification of the Second Philippine Republic constitution which called for a unicameral legislature composed of delegates from all provinces and chartered cities in the country. Iloilo, a chartered city since 1936, elected Fortunato R. Ybiernas to the National Assembly, who was joined by then-mayor Vicente R. Ybiernas as an appointed second delegate.
