''Illustreret Tidende'' was a Danish weekly illustrated magazine published from 1859 to 1924 in Denmark with international news, literature and entertainment content. History and profile ''Illustreret Tidende'' was founded by Otto Herman Delbanco (originally a music publisher) with inspiration from similar magazines elsewhere, such as the German ''Illustrirte Zeitung'' and the English ''Illustrated London News''. Henrik Olrik
Ole Henrik Benedictus Olrik (24 May 1830 – 2 January 1890) was a Danish painter, sculptor and applied artist. Early life and education Henrik Olrik, born in Copenhagen, was son of customs inspector Henrik Johan Ludvig Olrik and Benedicte Martinette (née Heiberg). Olrik was admitted to Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1844 where he initially studied sculpture under Herman Wilhelm Bissen, while in the same time working at the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Factory, where he made reduced copies of Bertel Thorvaldsen works. He graduated from the Academy in 1851 after winning two silver medals for his works in 1848 and 1851. In 1854 Olrik went to Paris pursue his painting interests. He studied in the studio of Thomas Couture and had his first painting exhibition in 1855. Royal Danish Library
The Royal Library ( da, Det Kongelige Bibliotek) in Copenhagen is the national library of Denmark and the university library of the University of Copenhagen. It is among the largest libraries in the world and the largest in the Nordic countries. In 2017, it merged with the State and University Library in Aarhus to form a combined national library. The combined library organisation (the separate library locations in Copenhagen and Aarhus are maintained) is known as the Royal Danish Library ( da, Det Kgl. Bibliotek). It contains numerous historical treasures, and a copy of all works printed in Denmark since the 17th century are deposited there. In Denmark there are various magazines with different frequency types, including weekly magazines, monthly magazines and quarterly magazines. As in other Nordic countries, the national consumer organizations publish their magazines in Denmark. In 2007, there were nearly 68 consumer magazines in the country which were mostly owned by Danish media groups. Of them 52 were monthly/quarterly whereas 16 were weekly. Anton Dorph
Anton Laurids Johannes Dorph (15 February 1831, Horsens – 12 January 1914, Copenhagen) was a Danish painter who is remembered for his altarpieces and his paintings of fishermen. Biography Dorph entered the Danish Academy in 1845 where he studied under Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. Later he received lessons from Wilhelm Marstrand (1849–50). After winning the Academy's silver medal, he began to exhibit portraits and genre paintings. With his portrait of the actor C.N. Rosenkilde (1856) which was displayed in the foyer of the Royal Danish Theatre he became increasingly well known. His full-figured portrait of the sculptor Evens brought him the Neuhausen Prize in 1857. The same year he began painting a series of works representing the fishermen of Zealand. He then turned to large religious works for altarpieces.
