Il Toro
''Il toro'' (also known as ''The Bull'') is a 1994 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Carlo Mazzacurati. The film entered the 51st Venice International Film Festival, where it was awarded with the Silver Lion and the Volpi Cup for best supporting actor (to Roberto Citran). Plot Franco, an employee in a cattle farm, is fired due to the difficulties facing the company. The blame game between his previous employer and his current one, who are reeling in an obscure bureaucratic hitch, does not allow him to obtain much of the liquidation he is entitled to. Exasperated and in debt (he is separated and with a young daughter to whom he has to buy an expensive braces), one night Franco sneaks into the company's offices to consult his file and finally find out who has to pay him the liquidation. Carlo Mazzacurati (2 March 1956 – 22 January 2014) was an Italian film director and screenwriter born in Padua. He started his cinema career in 1980. His better known films include ''Il Toro'' (1994) and ''La lingua del santo'' (2000). He was educated and graduated from University of Bologna. Mazzacurati died in Padua. He was an atheist. He was married to Marina Zangirolami until his death. Roberto Citran
Roberto Citran (born 26 January 1955) is an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Padua, Citran graduated in psychology and founded the university film club "CINEMAUNO" in his hometown. After some sporadic stage works he founded a small theater company, "Punto e Virgola". Citran is probably best known for his films with the director Carlo Mazzacurati, Paduan like him, who made him debuting in a main role in 1989, in ''Il prete bello''. In 1994 Citran won a Volpi Cup for best supporting actor for his performance in Mazzacurati's ''Il toro''. Alberto Lattuada (; 13 November 1914 – 3 July 2005) was an Italian film director. Career Lattuada was born in Vaprio d'Adda, the son of composer Felice Lattuada. He was initially interested in literature, becoming, while still a student, a member of the editorial staff of the antifascist fortnightly ''Camminare...'' (1932) and part of the artists' group ''Corrente di Vita'' (1938). Before entering the film industry, Lattuada's father made him complete his studies as an architect even though he recognized his desire to make movies. He began his film career as a screenwriter and assistant director on Mario Soldati's '' Piccolo mondo antico'' ("Old-Fashioned World", 1940).
