Ikatan Masyarakat Islam Malaysia
Ikatan Masyarakat Islam Malaysia (Malay for "''Muslim Community Union of Malaysia''", abbreviated IKATAN) was a minor Islamic political party formed in 1991 and based in Terengganu. IKATAN was a splinter party of Muslim People's Party of Malaysia ( ms, Parti Hizbul Muslimin Malaysia) (HAMIM), founded by Abdul Wahab Yunus, former Member of Parliament for Dungun, Terengganu who had resign from HAMIM together with his dissident supporters after losing the HAMIM presidential seat contest in 1990. Initially the party with the headquarter in Kuala Lumpur had been tried to be registered with the acronym IMAM but was disapproved by Registrar of Societies (ROS) and finally the IKATAN acronym was used. The constitution of IKATAN was amended to change the name of the party to the National Justice Party ( ms, Parti Keadilan Nasional) (KeADILan) and relaunched on 4 April 1999 during the Reformasi movement. The People's Justice Party ( ms, Parti Keadilan Rakyat , often known simply as KEADILAN or PKR) is a reformist political party in Malaysia, formed in 2003 by a merger of the National Justice Party and the older Malaysian People's Party. The party was led by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and increased its parliamentary representation from one seat to 31 seats in the 2008 general election, until the five-year political ban imposed on former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was lifted on 14 April 2008. The party is the second largest party after Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition that formed the government after defeating Barisan Nasional, which had ruled the country for 60 years since independence in the 2018 election. Politics of Malaysia takes place in the framework of a federal representative democratic constitutional monarchy, in which the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is head of state and the Prime Minister of Malaysia is the head of government. Executive power is exercised by the federal government and the 13 state governments. Legislative power is vested in the federal parliament and the 13 state assemblies. Legislation Under the current legislation, all political parties (termed "Political Associations") must be registered under the Societies Act. Election expenses The Election Offences Act (1954) regulates the maximum expenses allowed for candidates vying for parliamentary seats and for state seats during the campaign period (excluding before the nomination day and after election day). The permissible campaign expenditure set by the Election Offences Act (1954) is RM100,000 per candidate for state seats and RM200,000 per candidate for federal seats. The Malaysian People's Party (abbreviation: PRM; Malay: ''Parti Rakyat Malaysia'') is a political party in Malaysia. Founded on 11 November 1955 as Partai Ra'ayat, it is one of the older political parties in Malaysia and traces its pedigree to the anti-colonial movements from the pre World War II period like the Kesatuan Melayu Muda. Reformasi (Malaysia)
Reformasi is a political movement in Malaysia. It was initiated in September 1998 by Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, after he was sacked from his position by Malaysia's then-Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad. The movement, which began while the country hosted the Commonwealth Games, initially demanded the resignation of Malaysia's then-Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad, and for the end of alleged corruption and cronyism within the Barisan Nasional-led (BN) government. It later became a reformist movement demanding social equality and social justice in Malaysia.
