Naseem Begum ( Punjabi, ur, ; 9 November 1942 – 5 March 1990), known professionally as Mala ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer of Urdu and Punjabi films. Punjabi (; ; , ), sometimes spelled Panjabi, is an Indo-Aryan language of the Punjab region of Pakistan and India. It has approximately 113 million native speakers. Babu Rajab Ali ( pa, ਬਾਬੂ ਰਜਬ ਅਲੀ ; ; also known as Babu Ji) was a noted Kavishar of Punjab, known as the King of ''Kavishari''. Kavishar and kavishari Kavishari, or Kavishri, ( pa, ਕਵੀਸ਼ਰੀ) was originated in the Malwa region of Punjab. In the region a "Chhand-Baddh" kavita (poetry) is sung faster in a loud yet stretched voice without any musical instruments known as ''kavishari''. She was known as ''The Tradegy Queen'' for singing sorrowful and downhearted songs in films. Tassawar Khanum (born 1950) is a Pakistani Ghazal and playback film singer. She is mostly known for singing in Urdu and Punjabi in Pakistani films and television during the 1970s and 1980s. Early life and career Tassawar Khanum was born in Gujrat, Pakistan. During her childhood she was a neighbor of singer Pervaiz Mehdi who was a good friend of her father. She and her father would often go Pervaiz Mehdi's house while he was practicing. Masood Rana ( ur, , 6 August 1941 – 4 October 1995) was a Pakistani film playback singer. He began his singing career in 1962 with the film ''Inqalab'', became one of the top male singers in both Urdu and Punjabi films for more than three decades and remained a busy singer until his death in 1995. Rana still holds the record of singing more than 300 film songs in each of the two languages - Urdu and Punjabi, an all-time record shared with Ahmed Rushdi and Noor Jehan.
