Igor Marojević
Igor Marojević (born 1968) is a Serbian writer. Biography Marojević was born in Vrbas, Serbia in 1968. Igor Marojević graduated from the Department of Serbian language and Literature, at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology. He received his M.A. in World Literature at the Universidad Autónoma in Barcelona. He published the novels ''Dvadeset četiri zida'' (''Twenty-four walls''), ''Žega'' (''Drought''), ''Parter'' (''Parterre''), ''Šnit'' (Schnitt) and ''Majčina ruka'' (''Mother's Hand'') together with three books of stories ''Tragači'' (''Seekers''), ''Mediterani'' (''Mediterraneans'') and ''Beograđanke'' (''Women from Belgrade''). His play ''Nomadi'' (''Nomads''), written in Spanish as ''Los nómadas'' was staged in Spain, in Terrassa and Bilbao. The adaptation of this play was staged in Serbia under the name ''Tvrđava Evropa'' (''Fortress Europe'') as a part of ''BELEF'' (''Belgrade Summer Festival''). Borislav Pekić
Borislav Pekić ( sr-cyr, Борислав Пекић, ; 4 February 1930 – 2 July 1992) was a Serbian and Yugoslav writer and political activist. He was born in 1930, to a prominent family in Montenegro, at that time part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. From 1945 until his emigration to London in 1971, he lived in Belgrade. He was also one of the founding members of the Democratic Party in Serbia. He is considered one of the most important Serbian literary figures of the 20th century. Life and works Early life and novels Borislav Pekić spent his childhood in different cities of Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia. He graduated from high school in 1945 in Belgrade and shortly afterward was arrested with the accusation of belonging to the secret association "Yugoslav Democratic Youth" and sentenced to fifteen years of prison. Peter Handke
Peter Handke (; born 6 December 1942) is an Austrian novelist, playwright, translator, poet, film director, and screenwriter. He was awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Literature "for an influential work that with linguistic ingenuity has explored the periphery and the specificity of human experience." Handke is considered to be one of the most influential and original German-language writers in the second half of the 20th century. In the late 1960s, he earned his reputation as a member of the avant-garde with such plays as '' Offending the Audience'' (1966) in which actors analyze the nature of theatre and alternately insult the audience and praise its "performance", and ''Kaspar'' (1967). Vrbas ( sr-Cyrl, Врбас; hu, Verbász) is a town and municipality located in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. As of 2011, the town had a population of 24,112, while the municipality had 42,092 inhabitants. Name Its name stems from the word "Willow" in the Serbian language. During the SFRY period, the town was renamed ''Titov Vrbas'' (meaning "the Vrbas of Tito"), after Josip Broz Tito. Like all other towns in Socialist Yugoslavia named after Tito, the first part was dropped once the new states were formed during the early 1990s.
