Iceland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "If I Had Your Love" written by Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson, Vignir Snær Vigfússon, Linda Thompson and Selma Björnsdóttir. The song was performed by Selma, which is the artistic name of singer Selma Björnsdóttir who was internally selected by the Icelandic broadcaster Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) in February 2005 to represent Iceland at the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Selma Björnsdóttir
Selma Björnsdóttir (born 13 June 1974), also known as simply Selma or Selma Björns, is an Icelandic actress and singer born in Reykjavík, best known internationally for representing Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest in both 1999 and 2005. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the with the song "Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener. Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir (born 29 April 1981) is an Icelandic actress and television presenter who is the assistant director of RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster. She is a former Miss Iceland. Life and career Ragnhildur was born Keflavík where she lived most of her youth, excluding four years the family spent in Denmark. Her father is Jón Þór Harðarson, a mechanical engineer. Her mother, Ragnhildur Steinunn Maríusdóttir, died when she was seven years old. In the 1990s Ragnhildur was a gymnast; she won a bronze medal in the national championships in 1998 and was named to the national team. She completed an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy at the University of Iceland. In 2003, she won Miss Iceland. Gísli Marteinn Baldursson (born 26 February 1972) is an Icelandic television host and a former politician. Eurobandið (Euroband) is the name of Icelandic technopop and dance duo Friðrik Ómar and Regína Ósk, who together represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia. Regína Ósk Óskarsdóttir (born 21 December 1977, in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic singer. She has participated for Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001, 2003, and 2005 as a backing vocal, and in 2008 as a member of Eurobandið with the song " This Is My Life". Alongside Friðrik Ómar, Regína achieved the 14th place in the final, resulting in Iceland's best showing since the Eurovision Song Contest 2003.
