Idlib Revolutionaries Brigade
The Idlib Revolutionaries Brigade is an active armed Syrian group part of the Syrian Democratic Forces and associates itself with the Free Syrian Army, the group is mainly composed of individuals from the Idlib Governorate in northwestern Syria and opposes Turkey and its presence in Syria, as well as many of the groups it backs most of which are based or also operate in Idlib. Background The group was formed by 500 fighters a majority of whom are natives of Idlib from the Ahrar al-Zawiya Brigade in June 2018, and is affiliated with another SDF Arab faction, the Army of Revolutionaries which also uses Free Syrian Army imagery, to operate in Idlib on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Forces, while the group itself is headquartered in SDF-held Manbij in northeastern Aleppo. The SDF insurgency in Northern Aleppo refers to a campaign of armed attacks carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), following the expansion of the Turkish occupation of northern Syria after the early 2018 Operation Olive Branch carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (TFSA). Syrian Democratic Forces Military Councils
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has many military councils for local security and defense, each being accountable to the Rojava#Administrative divisions, civil council of the area they operate in. In 2016, the Syrian Democratic Forces established four military councils (three west of the Euphrates) in order to facilitate and conduct military operations; the Manbij Military Council, the al-Bab Military Council, the Jarabulus Military Council, and the Deir ez-Zor Military Council. In 2017, the Idlib Military Council was founded in an attempt to gain influence in Idlib Governorate, much of which is controlled by Turkey, Turkish-backed Syrian Opposition, opposition groups.
