Ida L. Cummins
Ida L. Cummins (August 15, 1853 - February 27, 1918) was a women's rights and children's rights activist living in Des Moines, Iowa and Washington, D.C. She was the wife of Albert B. Cummins, three term governor of the state of Iowa and U.S. Senator for Iowa for 18 years. She was active in the Des Moines Women's Club and served as the 10th president from 1895 to 1896. She and her husband were also active speakers and proponents of Women's Suffrage in Iowa hosting suffrage events in their home. She was president of the National Society Children of the American Revolution. In an article about the new first lady of Iowa, the Champaign Daily Gazette said: "She has been a leader among women in many charitable works and combines with a charming personality quite and extensive popularity. Eaton County, Michigan
Eaton County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 109,175. The county seat is Charlotte. The county was organized in 1837 and was named for John Eaton, who was Secretary of War under U.S. President Andrew Jackson, making it one of Michigan's Cabinet counties. Forrest Spaulding
Forrest Brisbin Spaulding (May 4, 1892 – December 9, 1965) was an American librarian. He was named in the ''American Libraries'' article, "100 of the most important leaders we had in the 20th century" for his contribution to intellectual freedom in writing the Library Bill of Rights. He was a humanitarian who is remembered not only for his contributions to librarianship, but also for the positive influence he had on the communities in which he lived and worked. In a commentary on the play ''The Not So Quiet Librarian'', by Cynthia Mercati, Humanities Iowa writes that "Spaulding's words and his life touched everyone who loved not just books but freedom of expression." While Forrest Spaulding is remembered for his contributions to librarianship, he began his career as a reporter. The National Society Children of the American Revolution (NSCAR) is a youth organization that was founded on April 5, 1895, by Harriett Lothrop. The idea was proposed on February 22, 1895, at the Fourth Continental Congress of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The organization was promptly chartered by the United States Congress, and NSCAR, is now the nation's oldest and largest, patriotic youth organization. NSCAR offers membership to anyone under the age of 22 who is lineally descended from someone who served in the Continental Army or gave material aid to the cause of freedom in the American Revolution.
