Ian Williams (tennis)
Ian Williams (born 6 August 1971) is an American former professional tennis player. Williams's juniors career began with an inauspicious start at the 1989 Boys' Junior National Tennis Championship, where he lost to Michael Joyce in the first round of the Boys' 18 singles. He played collegiate tennis at Harvard University before transferring to the University of Texas for his final two seasons. In 1993, he was runner-up to Texas teammate Chad Clark at the ITA All-American Championships and helped the Longhorns win the SWC championships. On the professional tour, Williams had a best singles world ranking of 638. In doubles he reached a best ranking of 222 and made an ATP Tour main draw appearance at the 1995 Volvo International in New Haven. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. Ivan Baron (born November 12, 1972) is an American former professional tennis player. Career Baron was seeded 6th at the 1989 Boys' Junior National Tennis Championship Boys' 18 singles but was ousted in the 1st round by Hector Nevares. He and Will Bull then lost to Steve Campbell and Rick Witsken in the 3rd round of the Boys' 18 doubles. His best year on the junior circuit was in 1990, when he won the Italian Open, reached the quarterfinals at the French Open and the semi-finals at Wimbledon. At the 1990 US Open, Baron took part in the men's singles, men's doubles (with Michael Flanagan), and mixed doubles (with Lisa Raymond) as a wildcard. He lost in straight sets to Fabrice Santoro in the men's singles, and failed to make it past the 1st round in either doubles. When he returned to the US Open main draw in 1993, it was as a qualifier. Nicolás Alexander Lapentti Gómez (; born 13 August 1976) is a former professional tennis player from Ecuador. His brothers, Giovanni Lapentti, Giovanni and Leonardo, uncle Andrés Gómez, Andrés, and cousins Roberto Quiroz, Roberto and Emilio Gómez (tennis), Emilio also are or were on the pro circuit.
