Ian Williams (rugby Union)
Ian Malcolm Williams (born 23 September 1963 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian former rugby union player who played as wing. He played for both Australia and Japan. He is nicknamed Peabody. Career Williams attendeded Epping Boys High School and Cranbrook School in Sydney. Before playing rugby, he played for Australia Under 19 baseball team and won the Combined Associated Schools 100 metres sprint crown with a time of 10.8 seconds. He played for the Australian Schoolboys rugby union team, and was the sprint champion of Combined Associated Schools. He then started his senior career in Eastwood. His debut against another country was in a match against Fiji, playing for Sydney in 1983. Sydney won the match 38 to 14, with a try scored by Williams. He debuted for the New South Wales representative team against an early-season tour of the All Blacks, where New South Wales suffered a loss of 10 to 37. Brendan Moon
Brendan Moon (born 10 October 1958) is an Australian former rugby union wing who played for the Queensland Reds in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Moon played 100 games for Queensland and also played in the premiership winning Brothers Old Boys team of 1978, 1980–1983, Brendan also represented Australia in 35 tests and was considered one of the best finishing wingers in the game with excellent positional play and terrific acceleration. For a number of years Moon has been helping the development of rugby union in Papua New Guinea, which he made his home,Bath, Richard (ed.) Osamu Koyabu
, (born 24 October 1947 in Osaka) is a Japanese former rugby union player and coach. He played as a fly-half. Career Hailing from Osaka Prefecture, Koyabu was educated at Doshisha University, where he was the driving force of the West League consecutive wins as the team captain. In 1970 after graduation, he worked for Mitsubishi Motors Kyoto, but he joined Nippon Steel Kamaishi, with which he would win several times the Kansai League A and the 1977 All Japan Championship, as player-coach. In that year, Koyabu retired as player and he led Nippon Steel Kamaishi between 1976 and 1981, during the club's seven consecutive titles in the All-Japan Championship. In 1974, Koyabu was called up by the then-coach of the Japanese national team Ryo Saito to play for Japan, with which Koyabu only played a test match against Sri Lanka, in Colombo, scoring a try in the match, winning the 4th edition of the Asia Rugby Championship. All-Japan Rugby Football Championship
The All-Japan Rugby Football Championship (日本ラグビーフットボール選手権大会 ''Nihon Ragubi- Futtobo-ru Senshuken Taikai'') is played at the end of the season and is doubling as the title playoff in the Top League. The first championship was played in 1963 and won by Doshisha University RFC which beat Kintetsu (now Kintetsu Liners) 18–3. Before that the NHK invitation cup was played three times, 1960-2. Qualifying 2009–2017 The All-Japan Rugby Football Championship was expanded from 8 to 10 teams for 2009 with the addition of two more Top League sides. Japan Company Rugby Football Championship
The Japan Company Rugby Football Championship (全国社会人ラグビーフットボール大会 ''Zenkoku Shakaijin Ragubi- Futtobo-ru Taikai'') is a former Japanese rugby union competition that ran from 1948 to 2003. Teams from companies or the public service played in the competition that extended from December to January in every season. The first championship was played in 1948-49 season and won by Haitan Koudan which beat Kintetsu (now Kintetsu Liners). After 55 years, the Championship was absorbed by the Top League for the 2003–04 season. This had been a significant competition for the development of Japanese company rugby. The Varsity Match
The Varsity Match is an annual rugby union fixture played between the universities of Oxford University RFC, Oxford and Cambridge University R.U.F.C., Cambridge in England. The event began in 1872 with the first men's match, with interruptions only for the two World Wars. Since 1921, the game has been played at Twickenham Stadium, London. It is normally played in early December. Following the 140th match in 2022, Oxford have 62 wins, and Cambridge maintain the lead with 64; 14 games have ended in draws.
