Ian McMillan (curler)
Ian McMillan (born July 17, 1991 in Dryden, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Tanner Horgan. Career McMillan is most notable for winning the 2017 Tour Challenge Tier 2 Grand Slam of Curling event playing second for Jason Gunnlaugson. The team finished sixth on the CTRS standings that season. McMillan left the team the following season and joined the Braden Calvert rink. Team Calvert had a fairly successful first season together, beginning with the 2018 Icebreaker at The Granite where they won the event title. They also won The Sunova Spiel at East St. Paul and the Thistle Integrity Stakes the following two months and had semifinal appearances at both the DeKalb Superspiel and the KKP Classic. Dryden, originally known as New Prospect, is the second-largest city in the Kenora District of Northwestern Ontario, Canada, located on Wabigoon Lake. 2018 Icebreaker At The Granite
The 2018 GOLDLINE Icebreaker at The Granite was held from August 24 to 26 at the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was the second event on the World Curling Tour for the 2018–19 season. The men's event was held in a double knockout format and the women's event was held in a round robin format. On the men's side, Braden Calvert's rink from Winnipeg defeated John Shuster's team from Duluth 4–3 in the final. Team Calvert also won the event the previous season. Jacques Gauthier (curler)
Jacques Gauthier (born October 17, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Kevin Koe. Career Gauthier played most of his junior career as third for J. T. Ryan. With Ryan, he won a silver medal at the 2019 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and a bronze medal at the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. In 2018, he got to play in his first World Junior Curling Championships as alternate for Tyler Tardi. The team won a gold medal. Ryan aged out of juniors after the 2019 championships and Gauthier formed his own team for the 2019–20 season. His rink of Jordan Peters, Brayden Payette and Zack Bilawka lost the final of the 2020 Manitoba Junior Provincials. They still got to go to the 2020 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, representing the second Manitoba team as Nunavut and Yukon did not send teams. 2020 Viterra Championship
The 2020 Viterra Championship, Manitoba's provincial men's curling championship, was held from February 5 to 9 at the Eric Coy Arena in Winnipeg. The winning Jason Gunnlaugson rink represented Manitoba at the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier and finished with a 5–6 record. Jason Gunnlaugson won his first Viterra Championship by defeating Mike McEwen 7–4 in the final. 2019 Tour Challenge
The 2019 KIOTI TRACTOR Tour Challenge was held from November 5 to 10, at the Pictou County Wellness Centre in Westville Road, Nova Scotia. It was the second Grand Slam event of the 2019–20 season. In the men's tier 1 final, Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario defeated Brad Gushue of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador to win his 5th Grand Slam. In the tier 2 final, Korey Dropkin defeated Tanner Horgan to earn a spot at the 2020 Canadian Open in January. In the women's tier 1 final, Anna Hasselborg of Sundbyberg, Sweden defeated Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba to win her 3rd Grand Slam. 2019 China Open (curling)
The 2019 China Open was held from December 13 to 17 in Tianjin, China. It was the third edition of the event. The winning team on both sides received 40,000 of the total 500,000 ( CNY). The event was held at the Beijing National Aquatics Centre in preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics in which the venue hosted the curling events. On the men's side, the Korean team of Kim Chang-min, Lee Ki-jeong, Kim Hak-kyun and Lee Ki-bok scored one in an extra end to defeat the United States' Korey Dropkin 7–6 in the final. Team Kim qualified through the round robin as the top seeded team with a 6–1 record, only suffering defeat once to Canada's Braden Calvert rink. Team Calvert, along with the United States' Dropkin and the host China's Zou Qiang also qualified for the playoff round. The Atkins Curling Supplies Classic (formerly the Atkins Curling Supplies Women's Classic and the Atkins Curling Supplies Charity Classic) is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place at the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event has also been hosted by the Charleswood Curling Club in Winnipeg and the East St. Paul Curling Club in East St. Paul, Manitoba.
