Ian Garbutt
Ian David Garbutt (born 3 April 1972) is an English professional golfer. Garbutt was born in Doncaster. He started playing golf at the age of 8, and by the age of 16, he had become a scratch player. He won the English Amateur at the age of 18, defeating Gary Evans in the final. Garbutt turned professional in 1992, and played on the European and Challenge Tours, sometimes splitting his time between both, until the end of 2008. Having lost his place on the European Tour at the end of the season, he retired from tournament golf early the following year to take up a position with sports management group ISM. In 1996, Garbutt finished top of the Challenge Tour Rankings, after winning the UAP Grand Final. Doncaster
Doncaster (, ) is a city in South Yorkshire, England. Named after the River Don, it is the administrative centre of the larger City of Doncaster. It is the second largest settlement in South Yorkshire after Sheffield. Doncaster is situated in the Don Valley on the western edge of the Humberhead Levels and east of the Pennines. Van Phillips (golfer)
Vanslow Luke Phillips (born 27 March 1972) is an English professional golfer. Phillips was born in London. As an amateur, he won the Berkshire Trophy twice before turning professional after playing in the Walker Cup at the end of 1993. In 1996 he won the Interlaken Open on the second tier Challenge Tour, and graduated to the European Tour for the following season by finishing in 6th place on the tour rankings at the end of the year. Phillips made steady progress, finishing inside the top 100 on the Order of Merit in each of his first four seasons on the European Tour. He captured his maiden win in 1999, at the Algarve Portuguese Open, where he overcame John Bickerton in a playoff. In 2001, he struggled to hold on to his tour card, and has competed mostly on the Challenge Tour since then. He won the Mauritius Open, a non-tour event in 2006. The 1993 European Amateur Team Championship took place 30 June – 4 July at Golf Club Mariánské Lázně, later renamed Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně, 6 kilometres from the Mariánské Lázně town (called Marienbad in German) in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It was the 18th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The hosting Golf Club Mariánské Lázně was later renamed Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně. 1991 European Amateur Team Championship
The 1991 European Amateur Team Championship took place 26–30 June at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro in Madrid, Spain. It was the 17th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was established in 1895 as a polo club. Its first 18-hole golf course, located in the northwest of Madrid, Spain, in the district of Moncloa, 5 kilometres from the city center, designed by Harry Colt, opened in 1914. Tom Simpson designed a new 9-hole course in the 1940s and John Harris designed another nine holes in 1968. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). St Andrews Trophy
The St Andrews Trophy is a biennial men's team golf tournament contested between teams of amateur golfers representing Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe. It takes its name from St Andrews in Scotland. It was first played in 1956 and takes place in even-numbered years; Great Britain & Ireland plays in the United States in the Walker Cup in odd-numbered years. It is staged alternately in Great Britain & Ireland and on the Continent, and is organised by The R&A (an offshoot of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) and the European Golf Association. The Jacques Léglise Trophy is an annual amateur boys' team golf competition between Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe. It was first played in 1977, as a one-day match before the Boys Amateur Championship, but since 1996 it has been played as a separate two-day match. The venue generally alternates between Great Britain and Ireland and the continent. The European Boys' Team Championship (Jean-Louis Dupont Trophy) is a European amateur team golf championship for men up to 18 organized by the European Golf Association. The inaugural event was held in 1980 and it has been played annually since.
